Bowl with a Hathor cow
Thebes, New Kingdom Egypt, c. 1479–1425 BCE
Bronze
In 16th-century Germany, an engagement ring was crafted to unfold into a tiny astronomical sphere.
When opened, it reveals a miniature armillary sphere — a model of the cosmos — engraved with the phrase: “The whole universe is in your hands.”
This rare piece symbolized both romantic devotion and scientific wonder, blending love with astronomy.

L’Esquerda: Iberian and Visigoth archaeological site in Roda de Ter (Comarques Gironines, Catalonia).
This village was built by the Ausetani Iberian tribe between the 8th and 1st centuries BC, then it was abandoned.
Later, in the 7th century AD, a Visigoth town was established in the same place, because of its strategic location. In the 8th century AD, the Carolingian Franks reinforced the wall in L’Esquerda and other places around the area in order to stop the advance of the Moorish invasion. Around the 12th century, they built the Romanesque-style church whose one wall still stands. The Medieval town remained in use until the 13th century, when it was abandoned as a result of fights between feudal lords.

The image of Orpheus expressed ancient ideas about the captivating power of art, the victory of harmony over chaos, the triumph of human reason over the riot of nature, personified by animals peacefully listening to the poet's lyre side by side.
In antiquity, Orpheus's lyre was not just a musical instrument, but a symbol of cosmic order. The numbers and rhythms of the music reflected the laws of motion of the celestial spheres. When Orpheus plays, he attunes the "disordered" world to a harmonious mood.
