I found a buckle in my local fields next to the river and it dates from around 1850. When I researched the area I found that there used to be mills that manufactured wool, the wooden cloth was placed on tenter hooks to stretch. This was my inspiration when I painted the assemblage.

A collection of assemblages made from with finds from the river Calder! This footballer from the river has had a makeover, I made him into a Victorian gentleman as most of my finds are Victorian in date :)

Assemblages are made from upcycled boxes and finds from the river Calder. Most of the finds are Victorian as the town came about because of the river for power and in the production of cloth from the mills.
