Other Nonsense
Assemblages are made from upcycled boxes and finds from the river Calder. Most of the finds are Victorian as the town came about because of the river for power and in the production of cloth from the mills.
Framed acrylic painting, artist unknown
This acrylic painting, depicting two people near a river within a forest and signedΒ βJEFFβ in the lower right corner, is a part of the Avery Centerβs Joseph A. Towles Artifact Collection. Joseph Allen Towles (1937-1988) was an African American anthropologist who lived and worked with his husband, British anthropologist Colin Macmillan Turnball. The pair spent various periods of time in Africa, conducting fieldwork on the Mbuti, Mbo, and Ik peoples. Anthropological research files focus mostly on their field work on the Mbuti and Mbo pygmies of the Congo area and the Ik of Uganda. This painting was collected by Towles and Turnball at some time between 1951-1989.

A collection of assemblages made from with finds from the river Calder! This footballer from the river has had a makeover, I made him into a Victorian gentleman as most of my finds are Victorian in date :)
