Out of habit, Adrian so mindlessly wandered through the corridors of the school, conscience fixed anywhere but in the now. He was anything but sad or hurt, spending time with Raina having helped patch him up and turn him back into his annoying regular self. And even though he was glad that things started to seem somewhat normal, he couldn’t help but think of a certain someone– a certain brunette who he both loved and was annoyed at kept intruding his thoughts. Paige. This girl was responsible for half of the headaches and migraines Adrian had, but she was also the reason why he had experienced true, pure happiness. All of that was in the past, now. However, it didn’t mean he didn’t love her, even after all this time. She was still a pain in the ass– his pain in the ass. So without his complete knowing, he was faced with a door. As if on autopilot, his body has took it upon itself to deliver Adrian to number one annoyance.
Not needing a formal invitation, he welcomed himself into the room and caught sight of Paige like his life depended on it. He was almost ashamed at how quickly he saw her - not seeing anything else but her. There was no way he’d admit it, though; not to her. He didn’t want her knowing she had that much power over him. His heart - were Paige to have supersonic hearing - betrayed the semi-concerned look on his face, beating erratically against his rib cage. She was sober. And damn, that almost made Adrian fall in love again. Without hesitation, he walked up to her and pulled her into a hug, an embrace that he’d missed so much. “Hi, baby,” he whispered softly, hand sliding up the back of her neck. “How’s things?” @paigexandean
Detoxing was a bitch. And while Paige had known that from the very beginning, a large part of her had been secretly hoping that it wouldn’t be too bad. She was wrong. The worst of it all, though, wasn’t even the physical aspect. Aside from the sleepiness, she was fine. Emotionally she was fucked. The anxiety and restlessness caused her to be on edge constantly, paranoia becoming a regular from her. And while she hated it deeply, the look in her brother’s eyes made it all worth it. Hearing the door open, she knew it could be one of two people--and sure enough, there was Adrian. Once upon a time, maybe Paige would have smiled and given him a kiss. Now, all she did was pout. “I want to stab something.” She grumbled honestly, hating how her own arms wrapped around his neck upon instinct. With her face buried in his neck, she leaned into him heavily, relaxing ever so slightly as her body melted into his. Sure, they weren’t dating anymore. But that didn’t stop her heart from doing back flips when he called her baby.
Pulling away, she searched his eyes with her own. Her chestnut hair was a mess, and several strands fell loose as she pulled away, falling into her face and annoying her even more. But there was something about the look in his eyes and the fact that he still had his arms around her waist that had her expression softening involuntarily, a small smile falling upon her lips. “I missed you.” I missed being home. Because no place on earth had ever felt at home to her, yet Adrian somehow managed to capture that essence better than any location for her. And while she had been playing the Bitch card on him this entire time, a large part of her had missed having him in her life. “How are you doing? All things considered.”
