I think Iago is just paranoid.  It seems like Iago is an unhappy person, so he picked a target (Othello) and made it his mission to make his life miserable as well.  I'm not really sure, but I think the mysteriousness of it all is what makes the play good.  If we knew what motivated Iago, he would seem less like the villain and more like the main character who is seeking revenge for whatever reason.

I agree, Emilia's character was very likable.  Even being the villain's wife and all, you could really tell she was trying to be a good person.  I think when she realizes what her husband had done in the end, she made a snap discussion to betray Iago and blame him for everything that had happened.  Regardless of Iago begging her not to say anything, she confesses whatever she knew.  It does not seem fair what happened to her next though.  I feel like Shakespeare stabs a very honorable character and I do not really understand that point.

I also think how Richard's character plays the protagonist and antagonist is interesting.  It's different from all the other Shakespeare plays we've read.  Richard basically dominates the entire story, even the title! He just responsible for all of his own problems, whatever it takes for that guy to be in power.

I think that Richard was unhappy with being a normal person, but is motivated by the chance to be happy and powerful.  So, he does a bunch of things that make him feel guilty about in the end, but the process of reaching his goal is what makes him "love" himself.

I'm pretty sure she wayne stated us(?), but I feel like we should keep up with everything on tumblr so we have something.  Or maybe it's a huge waste of time.

I also felt like the elements of magic and mythology were what made it easy to keep reading.  It's not like I have a really big interest in reading plays like this, but it was interesting to see Shakespeare take it in such a different direction compared to the other plays we've read.  The last two plays were my favorite because they were not gutsy, but more silly.

I thought the elements of magic in the play was what made it so lighthearted and enjoyable, compared to some of the other plays we've read.  It almost made it so unrealistic, that you did not really care what would happen to the main characters, but you were involved enough to keep reading.  This Shakespeare play is completely different from the others, but I thought that about The Merry Wives of Windsor too.  It really changes the idea I had about Shakespeare before this class.
