I just can’t decide:

Calm softness with lustre, or freshness with peace

You’re the lily on water, it’s so tempting, but

I don’t want to be pulled down, in fear I might sink

and have to come up for air because I can’t breathe

I don’t embody the peace you want, I don’t have the air of a gentle heart, it’s dark inside / and you’d find out

For me, with me, it’s a quiet storm

That’s the lack of my talking, more than anything

And I don’t want to fret your petals if I’m too strong of a weight

On lilies or water

There’s dust over the top

Crack it open, to see if you’d find a spark

Turn the pages back, reread

the chapters of this old book and those before that you’ve written in, retrieve your old thoughts

You’re closer to wisdom and majesty with everything the past has brought

Don’t be afraid to reclaim who you are.

There’s something sweet about the somber quality a minor chord brings

Like it’s okay to be sad, or disturbed, and to let that feeling (Cm to Gm, far better than F to C) ring……….

…irreplaceable, that which a major note could never allow for, it’s just

Something I find comfort in. a place where a certain rest occurs…

Those seem to be my favourite type of melodies, the ones I seem to always need.
