I wish I could talk about you without feeling the need to justify myself. I don’t want to justify you.

I hope I’ll always be somewhere in the back of your mind. I hate that you’re always in mine. I considered something recently. One: someday, you will be an old man. We will have forgotten each other almost entirely. I don’t know if that’ll be a relief or if I’ll be weathered and wrinkled, wondering why I feel like something is missing from me. I hope it’s the former. Two: one day, you will be dead. I probably won’t even hear about it when you die, so I chose to be sad about it yesterday. It’s strange to think that someone so full of life now will one day cease to exist.
