The brothers

Hearing Goku say that he's proud of his son for fighting so bravely (despite letting things get out of hand) made me want to edit this. Plus, I like that the only two people who didn't doubt Gohan's potential in that fight were Goku and 16, and they were the ones who put their hand in the fire for that boy in this very complicated fight.

This image appeared on my Pinterest (it's a scene from the movie "Beautiful Boy"), and it ended up inspiring me to imagine a similar scene with these three!

And I love imagining Gohan being a good (the better) big brother to these two.

• Another dialogue, and discussion, that appeared at least twice in this arc was the simple fact that the two were CHILDREN. I remember one of the characters saying "oh it's okay if they die, we can resurrect them", then Bulma brilliantly says that "they're just children, he shouldn't have to experience death" and that it's something very cruel.

Guys, I don't know about you, but I thought this point was wonderful.

Fortunately, I took a screenshot of when the BOYS THEMSELVES talk about this, when they are no longer fused and in complete danger (The subtitles were in Portuguese, so I used the translator to write it in English):

With these dialogues and the few times this arc focused on following a less comedy plot, I realize how much potential this all had. The great evolution this could generate for the boys and all the rest of the Z warriors.

When I realized this, I thought "I need to talk about"

in the movie scene, the fight against Cell Max is happening, everyone is trying to help, but the ugly giant is too resistant. This is when it is suggested that Orange Piccolo will fight Cell Max while Gohan gathers Ki to hit the enemy. Everyone starts to help to distract Cell and give Gohan time, it's a lot of pressure but he needs to have enough strength to end everything. Half of the friends are down, leaving only Orange Piccolo to fight against. Gohan doesn't know what he should do, he fears his master's death. He tries to intervene, but Piccolo says he would stop the enemy no matter what.

Gohan is anxious watching that, he can't look away from that scene. It is at this moment that I imagine that 16's speech being put into practice would be a great addition. Don't voice 16's words there, but rather expose Gohan's thoughts.

Him thinking about these struggles, these losses, how it was just so destructive. The entire scenery around him is almost reduced to dust, all nature, living beings. His friends are injured, his master is dying, he is unable to concentrate to charge his own Ki. So a desire to want to protect, save them from that injustice.

Note that at no point would 16 be mentioned, but the entire philosophy of Android would be present in Gohan's thoughts. The notion of how things are around, the notion that that enemy (in exact form, just different colors), in the not so distant past, would destroy the earth and made Goku sacrifice himself. The great lesson that Gohan learned in that fight comes to light in this one, almost like a redemption for a guilt that he could carry inside himself.

And then comes the scene of Piccolo being lifted into the sky by Cell Max, apparently dead. Gohan lost all his concentration, his Ki stopped emanating.

In the film, a red stripe simply appears behind Gohan and he transforms into rage.

But in our imagination, there would be a few seconds of silence, as if Gohan wanted to hear anything other than Cell Max screaming. He's not sure of anything, he doesn't know what to do, he's in shock.

Imagine, dear reader, if in this destroyed scenario there was only the sound of flapping wings. We wouldn't see where it came from, we wouldn't know if it was actually a bird in real life or if it was just something in Gohan's mind. We would only see the next scene of the transformation, the streak of red light, the seconds of silence before Cell Max looked confused and Gohan simply exploded.

Of fury? I dunno. But it would certainly be an explosion filled with many feelings. In this transformation, instead of raising his face while in tears, Gohan raises his face with a serene, almost frightening expression. This would be much more impactful if I had more preparation, I think.

Well, that was a slight rant about this whole scene. I really thought she could have been much better and this was the way I imagined I could bring more emotions to this scene.
