now that I’ve processed a little bit I have to say: I cannot believe one of the things I predicted correctly was Nancy Wheeler getting a harem
something something Lucas being the one who teased Mike about liking Eleven in season 1, something something Lucas coaching Mike through the El breakup in season 3, something something Lucas calling Mike and El “lovebirds” this season, something something Lucas’s hand being in between Mike’s and Will’s in the pileup, something something Mike moving Lucas out of the way so he could touch Will’s shoulder again, something something Lucas representing heteronormativity in all of these moments
lemme add to this real quick: Lucas being the first of the party to stand up in support of Will when he came out. Mike following Lucas’s lead of positive, healthy masculinity. Mike realizing that his straight friends won’t hate him for who he is after all
This is what they're focusing on instead of killing vecna
bonus points if Mike eventually becomes convinced that it was Lucas, because why wouldn’t it be, look at Lucas, he is the coolest out of all of them, and he’s all tall and muscley now, and when Mike finally confesses his feelings to Will he starts rambling on about “and I know, I know I’m not Lucas but -” and Will is just like. what the fuck is happening

so what moment did you know that they were absolutely going to make byler canon? mine was when Will put his hand on top of both Lucas’s and Mike’s when they all rallied at the picnic table pre-crawl, and the editors chose to immediately cut to Mike looking at Will and gulping as their hands touched
