Well, I haven’t been super active, but thought I’d share this. There are quite a few snippets in the works, as well as some art. Have a wonderful day/night!
Sometimes lore in Destiny is absolutely fucking bonkers to me. Like it would sound like an absolute shitshow of the most insane shit if you just explained random parts to someone who knows nothing about the franchise.
In one case, there is serious debate about a galaxy-spanning supercomputer AI named after a guy who fucked around a bunch with the Russian Monarchy about whether or not the actual fucking son he had was actually loved by his father. Who, I will remind you, is an AI.
In another case, a man known as "the salad man" once fought a dragon, an actual traditional European dragon, specifically because he thought it'd be cool. His entire justification was "wouldn't YOU wanna fight a dragon???"
Yet another hilarious tidbit is some Guardian, a person who can resurrect at will, finding a gun in Germany. This gun shoots miniature black holes. He decides to test it by shooting other Guardians in a televised blood sport that is broadcast to the entire city. For fun.
And in the very same game, there was a man who constantly, and I mean CONSTANTLY intentionally mispronounced someone else's name because he thought he was smarter than them. This is also the same man who had his arm forcibly and horrifically painfully warped and mechanized by a machine race hellbent on assimilating and replacing all of existence with itself.
We are literally going on pirate raids in space as we speak. No hyperbole. No jokes. This is literally, actually, genuinely what the current storyline is as of writing this post. Being pirates that out-pirate the pirates.
“Every year, on the same day, a figure with a black hood visits the Young Wolf’s grave. They clean away some of the clutter, which is never much–the grave is always well-maintained–and leave a bundle of yellow roses.
“Nobody knows who the figure in the black hood is. Some whisper that it’s actually the Young Wolf. Some whisper it’s another Guardian. Some suspect Zavala; others Ikora; some even believe it’s a ghost.
“But nobody knows who it is.
“Nobody ever sees them enter the square, or leave. They simply appear, then disappear, skipping hour-long lines and kilometre-wide crowds.

The devil works hard but fanfic authors work harder 🖤🖤 take a gold star ⭐, an optional forehead kiss 😘, and a mandatory glass of water💧 you all deserve the world
we would find out later i had burned off my entire cornea - about 65% of my eye. my doctor told me it is the organ with the highest concentration of nerve endings - i was in an amount of pain that can't be spoken.
and i was blind. for the first time in my life, i was totally blind. i kept thinking about reading, about writing. weirdly, just once, about driving. we had no idea if i would ever see again. just like that - my entire life was different.
it is a strange place to reference for a soft memory, to begin here.
my siblings were taking excellent care of me, but there was a moment in the hospital where, just through bad luck and timing - both of them had to step away for a moment. i was crying at that point; not emotionally. for 3 days after this i would still be crying, my tears, like a mermaid's, a frothy pink with blood.
my brother worried about leaving me. he had another, just-as-bad emergency.
"i got her," someone said. "don't worry."
a soft hand held mine, and then she started talking.
her name was jess. she has a wife named clyde. they live a few blocks up the street. clyde fell down, but the x-rays seem to be coming back better than expected. jess says she's got long dark hair and "more wrinkles than an elephant". jess describes every chair in the room and every person. she talks about her two kids and her cats and her favorite memories from college.
a doctor came. i had to switch to a different waiting room. i tried to stand up to follow the voice - i found jess's hand, following me. she didn't let go. she kept talking the whole way: lamp to your left, just a few more steps, okay to your right is the ugliest painting, good, now a little more walking straight, you got it baby
in the new silence of the next room she sat me down and called my brother for me, telling him where we'd gone to. and she stayed there for a bit, just chatting, her voice echoing in the eerie quiet. gently describing the room to me. and then someone was rude. from the sound of the voice, a kid, i think.
"why is she crying?"
"she just lost her vision," jess said. "she can't see."
"oh." said the kid. "that's scary."
the kid tells me he is here because he has peas stuck up his nose. that makes me laugh, his mom (?) groans. she tells me about the kid (he's 6, he likes paw patrol and eating cheese), about herself, about moving from cali.
jess says she's sorry, but she has to leave now, she's gotta go check on her wife.
"don't worry," says the mom. "i got her." and then i felt her hand press into mine.
for hours like that: i am taken care of by strangers. each person just talking with whatever comes to their head - not for any reward or celebrity or real reason, i guess. just because i am scared and alone and in the hospital and blinded and need to be distracted. not everyone even got told the story - they would just pick up in the silence with - oh by the way the television is playing HGTV - do you like that kind of a thing? yeah, me too, but could never quite get into those open-floor plans, i'll tell you -
by the time my brother is able to come back, the room is buzzing. we talk to each other like old friends, laughing, cracking jokes about if you don't like hospital food wait until you get on an airplane and can't believe i'm up past two in the morning what a party animal i'm becoming. i am holding the hands of someone named drew, who likes my crow tattoo and making crochet snails.
there are many dark moments full of pain in this world. this - in the low of absolute-dark, absolute-pain: people find a way to paint in it anyway. the color splash of their voices: this triumphant, radiating kindness of - let's be here together, let me help you, let's keep going.
i never saw their faces. i can't remember many of their names. but i think about them often, and the way we all took a deep breath - and did something gentle amongst the pain.

Reblog to give your writer friends, or yourself, a pat on the back, to let them know you’re proud of them. This is a message of love and encouragement.
Couple things here, for when you do this to people:
1. if you get the “answer my call” text, NEVER ANSWER THE CALL.
They are calling you because they want to have the conversation verbally, and be able to lie later about what they said or didn’t say. Force them to continue via text or email- force them to continue the conversation in writing or not at all.
2. “Lack of 2 weeks notice is unprofessional!” or the other version, “Not providing notice is illegal!”
No it isn’t. Neither is true.
And in the US, all states except Montana are “at will” employment (though you may hear an employer refer to it as “right to work” to make it sound better, it’s the same thing). Sure, at-will employment means they can fire you without cause, BUT! It also means that you are not legally required to give a reason for quitting, or to give notice of any kind.
Is it polite to give notice when you can? Sure. Do bosses expect it? Absolutely. But that does not make you legally required to provide it.
3. The only thing I would change in the worker’s interaction here was their response when initially asked to come in.
Employee: “Hey Mark. Sorry I’m unable to cover the shift tonight because I’m studying for my exam tomorrow.”
Don’t give a reason for your lack of availability. It may be tempting to. You may feel rude if you don’t.
DON’T DO IT.
You do not owe your boss any information about what you do off the clock, and any reason you give will only ever be used against you.
Boss: “Hey I need you to cover Jasper’s shift tonight.”
Employee: “Sorry, I’m not available.”
And leave it at that.
Do not elaborate.
Do not offer additional information.
When you boss asks you to elaborate, because they will, be polite but firm. “With respect, that’s personal. I’m sorry, but I’m unavailable to cover this shift/work late/come in early/etc.”
Be a broken record- you’re unavailable. That’s the only information they need to know, and it’s the only information they have a LEGAL RIGHT to know.
Please stop giving your bosses information they don’t need to know and don’t get to have, because they’re only going to try and use it to fuck you over later.

Wolf and Danica reached the base, making the jump across the flaming rift in between Burnt and Toasted. The fighting had ceased, and Cathrine had taken a break from pelting unsuspecting people with marshmallows. Both sides had retreated to behind the trenches, setting up camps, and planning their next move. In the field, a tattered white ‘flag’ lay torn on the ground. A book, titled, How to Get Your Children to Stop Fighting laid open on the ground, pages torn, and a red splatter on its pages. Danica and Wolf drop back into base, walking through the trenches as Danica speaks, “Thanks for the save Wolf, it would’ve been stuck there until Athena came back online.” Wolf nods, and turns, walking into another portion of the trench to gather up supplies.
———
As the sun started to rise, Cameron patrolled the trench while his teammates took a much needed rest, staying alert for any Toasted trickery. It was on his third or fourth pass that he noticed the book trampled on the ground, red staining its pages and Sam nowhere to be seen. "Chief," he called over his coms, "We might have trouble." At the base, the Chief looked up from where he was cleaning his rifle.
“What is it?” He asked, and looked over to the others, ready to head back into the fighting. He quickly assembled his rifle again and stood, walking over to the war table where Cortana was projecting a map of the field, Cameron's position marked with a green dot.
"Sam's MIA." Cam replied, hopping the trench to jog over to Sam's empty perch, "Confirmed blood on the scene, but not enough to suggest the injury was fatal. I'm having Echo run analysis now to see if it's Sam's."
“Copy that. Think it was Toasted?” Chief asked, and motioned Samriah over from where she was watching the field, walking over to the table where she listened to the radio chatter. As Danica entered the ‘room’ Samriah looked up at her, quickly scanning her to see if she had any injuries. Finding no major ones she nodded to herself.
“Danica, is Athena back up yet?” She asked, and Danica shook her head.
“She will be soon. She can pin Sam’s location easily. Chief, is Cortana able to help?” Danica questioned, and Cortana’s hologram appeared onto the table, ‘walking’ over to where Sam’s perch was.
“I’m searching for his signal, but some sort of interference is blocking my pings to his armor…” Cortana trailed off, “We may have to find him the old fashioned way.”
“Athena welcome back. I’m gonna need you to do a lot. Think you can handle it?” Danica asked her AI, Athena smirks and extends her hands dipping them into a flurry of fuchsia colored source codes.
“I’m always ready.” She says, ‘jumping’ over to the table, she confers with Cortana, both AI bouncing codes and pings off one another to try and clear the interference. Cameron comes back though on the radio.
"Negative, Chief. There's no marshmallow residue, and I know no one on any side would want to hurt Sam, especially under a white flag." Cam kneels in the mud, searching for any trails leading away from the scene. Finding nothing, he hopped back into the trenches, making his way back to the others.
“I’m picking up a signal!” Cortana says, and the group looks towards the table, Cortana pings the search back to Athena, as the other AI ‘grabbed’ the data, putting its location onto the table. Cortana flickered as the spiraled bit of data appeared on the table, hovering over the supposed location of the missing Spartan. Samriah stood, looking over the data on the map, “Alright, Dancia, Cam, and I will go track it. Chief, you and Cortana com us with any new info, yeah? I don’t want a surprise attack from the Toasted.” Athena displays the ping on Danica’s HUD, and talks to her through the helmet’s internal speakers.
“Hostiles everywhere, be careful.” Athena warns.
“We will be. I’ll be their shield.” Danica responds to her, then addresses the rest of the group, “Let’s get moving! I’m not losing my team again.” She says as she gears up with her weapons with live grenades and rounds. Samriah grabs her rifle, and her helmet which was ODST, a deep blue color with silver accents.
“Let’s go.” Samriah says, and the group moves through the trenches, following Athena’s ping, before they come to the end of the trench. They are close to the edge of the field, where the trees start to grow. Danica covers Samirah and Cam as they both jump out of the trench, scouting the tree line before Danica jumps up, covering their backs.
“Stay low. Spotlights.” Danica warns, Samriah nodded and moved forwards. The trees grew thicker as they got further into the forest. Cam took point, cutting through the heavy brush with a machete. Cortana came through on the group's coms.
“It’s quiet here, but I’m picking up contacts near you, about a klick away. It's not Toasted. Be careful.” The AI tells them, and Danica nodds.
“I’ll take point.” Danica says, “Athena, do you remember protocol 7?” She inquired with a solemn tone, Athena sighs.
“I do. I hate it, but I understand. I will if it ever comes to that, but it won’t.” The AI says, and Samriah looks at Danica with narrowed eyes.
“What’s protocol 7?” She asks, a stern look on her face leaves little room for argument. Knowing that look, Danica keeps her silence at first and then speaks calmly.
“Protocol 7 is in the case I get taken out. My armor will self-destruct and Athena will relocate to another Spartan. Chief doesn’t know. No one knows. But I’ve always told Athena that if it ever happens she has to go to Chief. I know he’ll keep her safe. Even if he doesn’t know exactly who I am.” There’s a firm look on Samriah’s face as she stops and faces Danica.
“That’s not going to happen.” Samriah says firmly, “We won’t- I won’t let another squad lose-“ before she could finish, Cortana interrupts Samriah albeit unknowingly.
“Hostiles approaching! Unknown id! Weapons up Spartans!” She says, and Danica immediately goes into full combat mode, scanning the area carefully, while protecting both Cam and Samriah.
“I know you won’t. But it’s still a precaution. I remind Athena of it so in the chaos she remembers. She has a safe place.” Danica answers Samriah, while keeping her weapon raised. A flock of birds erupts flying away in front of them, the group takes a step back, luckily protected by their armor from the crazed birds sharp claws and beaks.
“There running from something.” Samraih whispers, raising her rifle and pointing it towards the trees where the branches rustle. Something bursts out of the brush, its form made of Flood mass, but not quite the same as it flings itself at Cameron with a gruttal cry. Danica rips the flood away from Cameron, slamming it to the ground firing her assault rifle at it.
“Contact! It’s the flood!” Danica shouts, the creature hisses as it tries to escape, letting out a deafening screech before it falls limply to the ground.
“That’s not a flood form I’ve seen!” Samriah shouts, The ground seems to shake as the branches rustle in front of them, cries similar to that of the Flood echo out around them as more forms bust forwards out of the trees. Danica stands her ground as she rushes them, opening fire, and taking out as many as she can with extreme accuracy.
“There’s new breeds among old ones!” She responds to Samriah. The group is soon overwhelmed, forced to fall back as Samriah coms Cortana and Chief.
“Cortana we have contact with the hostiles! It’s the Flood they’ve-“ Samriah breaks off to shoot a combat-like form charging at Dancia, chitin-like armor plating makes it much harder to take down as Samriah fires her assault rifle at it, “Get contact with the Toasted! We’re going to need their help!” As Samriah speaks with Cortana, Danica speaks with Athena within her mind.
We might have to use it as an offensive measure as a last resort. Danica says, referring to Protocol 7.
Never in a million years Danica. No way in hell. There’s a way out. We’re calling back up. Athena quickly counters.

At Toasted base, Dove fiddles with her fingers as the last transmission from Fred causes her anxiety to flare. What was going on? Were he and John alright? What was all the yelling in the background? “I don't like it Nerd… Fred's com channel has been silent for way too long” she says, Nerd looks towards Dove as the radio crackles.
————
“Patching you though to the Toasted!” Cortana tells Samriah.
“Nerd, Dove, anyone of the Toasted. We have contact with the Flood!” Samriah shouts, gunning down a Tank form, “We need help!” More Flood forms burst out of the trees as Danica tries to keep as many as she can back and away from Cam and Samriah. At Toasted base, static causes a delay but Eagle gathers enough of the transmission to understand... and it's bad. “Anyone?” Samriah calls into coms again “I repeat, we have Flood contact! They’ve evolved!” Eagle coms into the radio speaking quickly to Samraih as gunfire sounds from the other end.
"Copy, dispatching additional units. Sitrep Samariah. What's the status on your squad?" Eagle asks, there’s a pause before Samriah responds.
“We’re falling back, Dancia and Cameron are with me.” She says.
"Any injured? Infected? Where's the Chief?"
“No injured, no infected. Chief is back at base. We were looking for Sam, he’s MIA.” Samraih replies, firing at another ranged form that fires at them from the trees. Danica’s armor looks best to hell but intact minus a small chunk out of her chestplate. At Toasted base Nerd works with Dove to summon the Divine Trio while Eagle works on setting up a triage and setting defences.
"Fall back to the base Samariah." Nerd instructs, taking over as Eagle dashes out of the room, "Eagle is going after Sam." Samraih dodged a combat form as it tried to take a chunk out of her.
“Copy that. Cortanta will send you the ping. The area must be infested with Flood. Warp portals are down. Is Dove there? She won’t be able to warp home, and if the Flood gets to base…”
Athena. I’ve got to call it. It’ll buy time. Danica tells Athena, jumping up and pulling a ranged form from the tree, tearing it in half before throwing it at a group of infection pods.
“No! There has to be another way! We can buy them time another way!” Athena counters again with sadness and anger heavy in her voice.
“I'm here.... but don't worry, Nerd can get me home.... just get John and the others back safely... please.” Dove says as Nerd creates a warp portal with her pen and sets the next portal to appear at the coordinates Cortana gave.
"Once you guys get to the rendezvous there's going to be a portal, don't think, just jump. Divine Intervention will cover your escape" Nerd instructs. The warp portal flickers as it opens, flashing with a blood red light. It crackles with something wrong.
"Copy that Bird." Cam replies, he turns and fires a spray of bullets at the approaching mass of Flood. He drops a few grenades to help Divine Intervention cover the group before jumping through himself.
“Go. I’ll buy you guys as much time as I can. I can’t risk these things drifting into the portal. I’ll find another way back.” Danica says as she and Samriah cover Cameron going through the portal. Samriah looks towards Danica, a spark burns bright in her eyes, and for a brief moment, an image of her old team flashes through her eyes.
“No Danica. Not this time.” She says, and shoves the Spartan through the portal.
