OverWatch Hype

Ok, I'm so pumped for this, first off, happy Spoopy month everyone!

Second, we have a date! October 9th is when it starts!

Third, what can we expect? There was a developer update where Jeff Kaplan talked a bit about the Halloween terror event, you can watch the whole update here. The Halloween event starts at around 5:50.

here are some key points he said.

“Junkenstein’s monster finally gets a bride”

“greate cosmetic content coming”

“won't be dramatic new game modes or changes to Junkenstein’s  revenge”

Also a few other points...

We will get to talk more about the skins in a bit, I have a whole theory on whos getting what, thanks to a little leak that happened a little bit ago.

before we proceed much more, I think we need to address the elephant in the room, the tweet. as always, we got the announcement from a tweet this morning, here is that. its a video accompanied by a nice sweet poem, perfect for the spoopy month. as you look at the video, however, you'll notice its a different scene then we are used to...

Now I know Kaplan said they won't be dramatic changes to the event to a new location may be crossed off, however, I would be shocked if he said that as a decoy.

We know this castle well, its CHÂTEAU GUILLARD its Widowmakers family estate. now, this may all seem cool, it may be a new scene for the Halloween event, or, it could confirm something more... for those of you who knew the leak I'm talking about, your head may be jumping to conclusions just like mine.

Allow me to explain. On the overwatch website, under the Halloween terror event skins, there were placeholders (PH) for what has assumed the new skins for 2018, of course, there is no picture, just the names. however, I took that bit of information and ran with it like many others did too. I put together a chart to help me figure out when getting a new skin this year!

as we can see, the skins are Spider Queen, Bride, Ghost, and Slasher. Now this could be a giant red herring, but I don't think so, Jeff Kaplan already confirmed in the developer updated that Junkenstein’s monster will get a bride. 

Ill let you have a few moments to speculate yourself whos these skins to could do before I give you my theory.

Emulating your main; Brigitte.

When is it that the lines of being a Brigitte main and being Brigitte blur? 

How is it that you can crave the presence of someone you never meet? 

Who are you to await their approval, as you would from a friend or family, from someone who doesn’t even know you exist? 

For starters, They are not just your mains, and you are not just their player. 

You have met them before, many times, and all over the world, you got introduced to them when you first clicked on their portrait, and you've been hanging out with them ever since. 

Of course, they know who you are, they talk to you, say hi, nice shot, and even watch your back for you, lets you know when the enemy has a shield generator, well, they used to.

When you start to spend so much time with them, on a daily, weekly basis, you begin to think about them, a lot. 

When you grow fond of them, their thoughts and your head will be making introductions. 

When you establish a relationship with them and love them, you can hear what they would say to you, in their voice, sometimes words of encouragements, other times it’s them nagging you. 

When they become your role model, shoulder to cry on, and best friend by your side during your hardest times, you start to emulate them.

Writing a reaction to Shooting Stars has been hard. Not because it wasn't what I thought I wanted to see, or because I thought it was terrible, but rather sitting down to write my thoughts would be doing the one thing Jeff Kaplan wants us to do; grow attached to these heroes.

That seems like a great idea! Why wouldn't we want to feel attached to the heroes, these characters? Its what we nerds do right? I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks about what a specific strong hero would do in a situation I find myself in, Do you believe Reaper would let that person talk to you like that? Or how they would deal with certain feelings, Ana taught us to say what you mean in the moment, you may not get another time. Or when we are sad, we can think about how Lucio would cheer up D.va. Or  We learn from them, grow with them, draw strength from them, and feel with them. That's the hardest part, feeling with them.

It's one thing to feel so proud of D.va for getting her short, look at her, she's my main! But what happens when she gets hurt. Sometimes we put up a barrier, to protect ourselves from feeling, from hurting, it can be easy to do that when your surrounded by a lot of pain, and emotions, like those that flow through Overwatch. However, I challenge you, let yourself feel, let yourself imagine the depths these stories can take you. Sure they are filled with sadness and grief and war and loss, but you cannot deny the opposite. They are filled with hope and love and support, so many good things that we all need in a day to day life. Although I'm sure you are aware of the later, I ask you, have you honestly felt the depths of it? I'd like to make an assumption and say you haven't. I'm sure we have all heard the beautiful song of Let Her Go by Passenger, I urge you to stop right now and listen, whether it be for the first time, or the hundredth time.

Incorrect Overwatch quote by Solder.

I just found out about this, since I am working I couldn't get the full scope on what all went down to game con.

What I know about these so far is they are Nike's, and they look amazing!

I kinda want one... But idk who I would get. I saw a D'Va, Aolder, Ana, Mercy, Mcree, .... I can't remember all.

I am trying to locate a nice picture of them all.

Pre Thoughts:

Before even watching this, I must say I was a bit disappointed to find that it wasn't about talon, however, I couldn't say I was shocked either. D'Va was definitely high on the list of 'over due for a short'. With being a very popular hero, and with little background. What we do know about her is that she has a sad past, affected heavily by war, and using gaming as a way to cope, the later is something I'm sure we can all relate to.

I'm excited to know more of her story, which in the grand schemes of Hong will tell us more of the story.

Tomorrow at Gamescom a new short for Overwatch will be revealed. I have had a few theories about this and from reading twitter and talking to people, so do many others.

Many think it will be about an older character that is overdue to have one, like Ana, Zen, D’Va, and so on. I've seen just about all the names with hopes it's them.

I would love for there to be short for all the heroes, and I feel that will happen in its own time, and I don't think now is the time to just put out any ol’ short. They would want to save those for a less busy time, somewhere outta the blue. Since Blizzard is meticulous about these things, we got to look at what else is going on.

Retribution was the start of the Talon hype, we wanted to learn more, wanted the gaps to be filled in. Then the Rialto map came out and gave us a bit more insight to Talon, and more importantly, continued the story more. 

When Brigitte was being teased, many thought it would be a Talon member, more importantly,  Maximilien, who many also believe is a hacker. 

Another thing to consider, there are changes being made to the Rialto map, I'm not too sure how yet. the last map to get changes was Horizon Lunar Colony, and then Hammond got released. Updating a map that correlates to Talon, not too long after it was released, is something big.

Lastly, we have the Doomfist Statue available for preorder, right before a short is released and before Gamescom. He is another member of Talon and another person who doesn't have much information on him.

It should be well noted that they will be showing off the statue, Short, Lego things, and more at Gamescon, with a public audience, they are going to want to be flashy and have wow factors. 

Something else I want to add, which may be a stretch, but if I know Blizzard, its the little things that you don't wanna miss. in the hero gallery, there is a blurb over to the right said that gives a little info on the lore of that character. Certain skins will have it too, for example, Brigitte’s mechanic and engineer skin say that she was helping Reinhart repair his armor, that she was a squire under him, and that's why she has those skins.

Well... those aren't there anymore, at all. so when looked into further, it was confirmed that when the summer games updated was released, that a ‘bug’ got rid of the lore bits.

That seems like a well and sure answer, but I'm not convinced. the last time something that ‘minor’ was taken out of that game, was the Junker’s Queen voice. It was announced that was just a bug too, but, many took it as a sign for the new hero. just so happens, the new hero did have relation to the Junker Queen, and when Hammond got released, the Voice lines got put back too...

This first lead to the theory that the new hero could very well be a hacker, hopefully, a talon member, and maybe, just maybe, Maximilien. but he may be too big of a character. 

Now, I'm not saying the short will be about Maximilien or Doomfist, but I really think it will be about Talon.

Honorable Mentions:

Moria; I'd love to know her point of veiw during and after retribution, and then going to talking and saving Gabe/creating Reaper. Did she really betray Blackwatch? Her story could also give us a lot of insight into the lore.

Hammond; more specifically, his journey on the moon and in Junkertown. They changed a whole map for him, and he has connections to many things and heroes. Telling more about him would also fill in gaps many other places. He is also the newest member and with quite a neat story.

Brigitte; because i would love that, and she is also fairly new

I love the statues, don't get me wrong. They are all beatiful and magestic, and I want them all... Except doomfist. I cannot betray Numbani or Orisa for it.

However!!!

This means something?!?! It's more info about talon.

This is the lead I'm on currently, the new hero will be a part of talon, and we are in need for more info about talon. The leader, what they are doing, who all is in it, what are there plans. Even since the past Are hives event with retribution, they have been leading up to telling us about talon!

I can't stop thinking of puns or scenarios with Lego Overwatch.

Wether it's in game as a salute to the Legos, or a type if braking the fourth wall, as if they entered the world of Legos and how would they interact inside.

I know that solder would just be staying all the dad jokes he can, and to get their revenge, the team dumps Legos in is room at night, in hopes his bladder fails him at 3am.

Does assemble team mean your friends you play with, or the team of heroes you want?

What else has Lego done, games, movies, hmm...

Although a lego Overwatch movie might be cool, I can't see why they would. they have great animations and shorts as it is.

So, the only conclusion I can firmly believe is that they are going to make Overwatch Lego0, the toys.

They already have the Nurf guns coming out. this is just the next step.

if this is the case, man that is totally wicked!

Additional Thoughts: 

The map in the background of the video changes, maybe they will come out with popular buildings and such from the maps...

The “assemble team” to me means to chose what Lego Heros you want on your team, maybe a collect them all thing? id like that
