Everyone going shopping on Black Friday, be aware of three things:
The retail workers are working 12 hours shifts. We are threatened with losing our jobs if we donât show up unless weâre dying in the hospital. I had an assistant manager show up with fucking strep because he wouldâve been fired otherwise. Yes, he did infect 7 and hospitalize 2 coworkers; who knows how many members of the public he infected.
The stores have, maybe, 5 of that special cheap thing youâre after. Corporate does this on purpose, and stores are not allowed to order enough. The prices arenât even that much lower. They lie about how expensive something is to fool you into thinking youâre getting a discount. You arenât.
Most of the workers you will come across will be new hires for the sole purpose of being bodies for about three months before theyâre fired. They actually donât know anything because theyâve been working there for maybe two weeks, and have had no real training. I was once hired at Staples a week before Black Friday and expected to know how to deal with phones, coupons, the online ordering site, and AS400 after five 6-hour shifts. This is the kind of person you will likely be dealing with at Black Friday.
Do me and my retail family a favor and donât shop Black Friday. Any company that needs a sale day like Black Friday to get their sales out of the red doesnât deserve to be in business.Â
This also goes for anyone that works shipment too. Weâre suddenly expected to stay as late as they want you to even if they know you donât have a car and rely on a ride to get you to and from work and know you canât stay late. Shipment workers will suddenly start getting berated for not getting things done and it is by far the most stressful time to be a shipment worker for any store. Especially when they throw in new hires that donât know how to process things and are expected to work at the same pace as the people that have worked there for a while.
Retail is shit around the holidays, especially Black Friday
ok fellow millenials, itâs time to kill black friday
LETâS KILL BLACK FRIDAY
Target is open until 1 am on thanksgiving to open 6 am Friday at the one I work at with people who will stock all throughout the night. Please be aware of this and donât be crazy or rude
Additionally, be super nice to grocery store workers leading up to Black Friday. In the food retail world, Black Wednesday is a thing and it is hell. Rushing in last minute to get stuff you forgot for Thanksgiving Day is understandable, but for the love of god, have some patience.

STROKE: Remember The 1st Three Letters⌠S.T..R ⌠My friend sent this to me and encouraged me to post it and spread the word. I agree. If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks. STROKE IDENTIFICATION: During a party, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. (they offered to call ambulance) They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingridâs husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00pm , Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the party . Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some donât die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead. It only takes a minute to read this⌠STROKE IDENTIFICATION: A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a strokeâŚtotally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough. RECOGNIZING A STROKE Remember the â3â steps, STR . Read and Learn! Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke. Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions : S * Ask the individual to SMILE .. T * = TALK. Ask the person to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (eg âIt is sunny out todayâ). R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS . If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call the ambulance and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher. NOTE : Another âsignâ of a stroke is 1. Ask the person to âstickâ out their tongue. 2. If the tongue is âcrookedâ, if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke. A prominent cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved. And it could be your own.
First reblog post that actually saves a life.
This is a life-saving post.

yeah donât think that this canât happen to you or someone you know if theyâre young. my cousinâs wife is 33 and she had a stroke last year
Iâve had a stroke. It happens to people, and the more you know about this kind of stuff, the better.Because it could be important to know.

My mother died after being paralyzed by a stroke. Please read this^
I remember a while ago here in UK there were stroke-identifying adverts. Their catchphrase was FAST:
F- Face: is their face fallen on one side?
A- Arms: can they raise both their arms up and hold them there?
S- Speech: is their speech slurred? Can they speak a full sentence?
T- Time: if all the signs show a stroke, call 999.
We managed to save my nana with this information when she had her first stroke.Â
SAVE A LIFE.
yo save a fuckin life gotta reblog this shit
My mother survived three strokes. Iâm not sure how she did it, but Iâm forever thankful sheâs alive.
THE COCOAPUFF GIRLS
So about this project. For awhile now Iâve noticed almost every single time I see a darker skinned black woman âgoing viralâ, sheâs half naked, oiled up, and/or sexualized in some way shape or form. Itâs very rarely ever âLook at this amazing dark skinned woman who accomplished this thing.â Or âLook at her smile, sheâs gorgeousâ. Â Please donât misinterpret what Iâm saying. There is nothing wrong with darker women and black women in general being free and expressive about their sexuality and provocative features. BUT that is NOT ALL they are. They are so much more than sexual beings, but for some reason, that seems to be almost the only thing that grabs viral appreciation. So hereâs my attempt to have darker skinned black women go viral for just being cute, creative, stylish, bubbly, beautiful, and black. Aside from the videographer EVERYONE involved in this project IS A BLACK WOMAN. I hope you guys like it. I ask that if you enjoyed this and agree with my objective, share it with a few people please.

How to be good at interviews:
Iâm having next Wednesday my first professional interview (eeeeek) so I decided to share the research Iâm doing. I googled all of this and chose the information I found most important, and organized it. I truly hope itâs helpful for someone out there :)
PLAN AND PRACTICE:
always do your homework: learn about the organization, its ideas and storyÂ
donât necessarily memorize responses, but try to have a planned general strategy for answering common interview questions
practice in front of the mirror
be ready to briefly describe related experience
compare your qualifications to what the organization wants from you
COMMON INTERVIEW QUESTIONS:
âWhatâs your biggest weakness?â Think of a genuine issue you have as well as ways you have managed to work with/around it.
âWhatâs your biggest strengths?â Stand out from the crowd and donât be afraid to speak about your strengths in an authentic and compelling way. See if your strengths align with the companyâs needs.
â Why do you want this job?â/Â âWhy should we hire you?â Stay focused on why your background makes you an ideal candidate and tell them how you are going to contribute to that department and that company.Â
âTell me about yourself.â Donât tell them your life story, instead discuss what your interests are relating to the job and why your background makes you a great candidate.
âWhy did you leave your last job/position/school?â Do not go into details about your dissatisfaction, tell them that while you valued the experience and education you received, you felt that the time had come to seek outo a new opportunity, expand your skills and knowledge, and to find a company with wich you could grow. Try to put a positive spin on things. Be honest if you were fired but donât trash your previous boss.
âWhere do you see yourself in five years?â Â Be honest about what your greater aspirations are.
And much much much more (from your behaviour to work experiences, education, interests and motivation or problems and challeges youâve faced previously), I would encourage you to try to write down some topics for each questions that work for you. Being prepared is everything.
THE DAY OF THE INTERVIEW:
sleep and eat well so you look rested and healthy on the big day
give yourself time to calm down/meditate/relax
donât noodle around on your phone or electronic device while waiting - it may communicate boredom and frivolousness, maybe stick your notebook/notes
What to wear: normally itâs best to dress neutral, professionally/formal, not overly fashionable or trendy, and brightly colored clothing is bad. Make sure your clothes are neat and wrinkle free, and make sure your image is very clean and neat.
What to bring: if revelant, extra copies of your resume on quality paper, a notepad or professional binder and pen, information you might need to complete an application.
IMPORTANT TIPS:
make eye contact
show courtesy to everyone during the interview, this means everyone from the reception staff to the interviewer herself
smile
have good posture
avoid fidgeting too much or playing with your hair/touching face
have a good handshake
donât cross your arms over your chest
walk, act, talk with confidence
be comfortable and relaxed
choose the words you say
donât place stuff on their desk
manage your reactions - facial and body expressions give clues on how you feel: project a positive image
show interest and enthusiasm
show warmth and personality - being personable is about getting the interviewerâs emotional side to like you and believe in you
donât lie to make it seem like you know something you donât. You probably wonât fool your interviewer, and admitting to not know something is much more impressive than lying
be honest
keep things simple and short, talk in 30-90 second chunks. Any less and youâre likely to seem unqualified; any more and your interviewer is likely to lose interest in what youâre saying
THINK OF QUESTIONS TO ASK: participating actively during the interview gives a good impression of your level of interest in the job. Most of times it is more adequeate to ask in the end of the interview. But I feel like you really need to make sure your questions are adequate. Examples:
âWhat types of training opportunities do you offer?â
âWhat are the chances for professional growth in this job opportunity?â
âIs there anything else I can provide you with that would be helpful?â
ALWAYS ask the â When can I expect to hear back from you about the position?â question if the interviewer does not tell you.Â
Good questions are open-ended, and thus cannot be answered with a âyesâ or âno.â Better questions are behavioral: they ask how things are done or have happened in the past, because current and past behavior is the best predictor of future behavior.
AFTER THE INTERVIEW:
shake hands with the interviewer - try to invest some feeling into the handshake and pleasantries, even if you think you bombed the interview
hold your head high and keep your cool
your emotions are probably teetering at the highest of highs or the lowest of lows, but try to stay measured
project a cool confidence, not cockiness, and walk out of the interview with your head held high
SOMETHING TO ALWAYS KEEP IN MIND:
when you know in your heart and your gut that you bring to the table something just as valuable as a paycheck and maybe much more â your tremendous experience, intellect and instinct â youâll carry yourself differently. You wonât trip over your words in an effort to please His Majesty or Her Highness, because youâll see yourself and the interviewer as equals on a level playing field.Â
you are valuable and unique. You have something very special in you and you deserve to be given a chance. good luck!
This is a weird tip that I got a while ago when I was job hunting and has always proved good for me. If you bring in a bottle of water, bring one in for the interviewer as well. Itâs not only a nice gesture for them (because they probably have been seeing a bunch of people all day as is), but it also shows that youâre prepared and youâre willing to put other people ahead of yourself as well. I know itâs weird, but yeah.Â
Very interesting! Thanks for sharing your experience!

I donât know where this came from but I NEEDED it
WOW
hot takes on AOC saying that the United States government is operating concentration camps:
WARNING: This post contains references to gruesome human rights violations. It is not for everyone.
76 people in a cell designed for 12.
155 people in a cell designed for 35.
41 in a cell for 8.
Donât look away.
900 people total, or or more than seven times the 125-person capacity of the El Paso Del Norte immigration processing center.
If it werenât for the white boxes shielding the faces of dozens of men and women stuffed into the overcrowded cell, it would be difficult to count the people in the photograph, since their overlapping limbs make it impossible to see where one body ends and another begins.
Standing room only cells, where people are held for weeks. Limited access to showers and clean clothes, resulting in those held wearing soiled clothing âfor days or weeks.â
People standing on toilets just to find air to breathe. 24 deaths while in ICE custody.
Johana Mediana LĂŠon, 25 years old. Transgender. Passed away four days after release from custody after complaining of chest pains.
Mergensana Amar, 40 years old. Removed from life support after committing suicide in custody.
Efrain De La Rosa, 40 years old. Committed suicide in custody by self-inflicted strangulation.
Roxana Hernandez, 33 years old. Transgender. Passed away in custody after experiencing cardiac arrest.
300,000-500,000 individuals per year in custody. Acting ICE director Mark Morganâs response? Plans to increase large scale raids.
Donât look away.
Theyâre not âcenters.â Theyâre not âfacilities.â Theyâre not âprocessing areas.â Letâs call them what they are.
The United States government is operating concentration camps. And we must act.
Memos surfaced by journalist Ken Klippenstein revealed that Immigration and Customs Enforcementâs failure to provide medical care was responsible for suicides and other deaths of detainees. These followed another report that showed that thousands of detainees are being brutally held in isolation cells just for being transgender or mentally ill.
Two weeks ago, the Trump administration cut funding for classes, recreation and legal aid at detention centers holding minors â which were likened to âsummer campsâ by a senior ICE official last year. And there was the revelation that months after being torn from their parentsâ arms, 37 children were locked in vans for up to 39 hours in the parking lot of a detention center outside Port Isabel, Texas. In the last year, at least seven migrant children have died in federal custody.
Donât look away.
Itâs certainly been helpful for the Trump Administration that nobody has called them concentration camps until this week, when Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez came under great fire for doing so.
It may well be a testament to the media machine that is the Trump administration. Look away! He wore an ill-fitting tuxedo to meet the Queen! Look away! He wonât acknowledge that the Central Park Five are exonerated! Look away! He fired pollsters for giving him numbers that he didnât like!
Donât look away.
Itâs helpful to the President that the media covers these human rights abuses intermittently instead of as what they actually are: proof of a racist administration, unchecked by the law. Itâs helpful that thereâs so much else to look at right now. But more than anything else, itâs helpful that the places where these people are being tortured and left to die are hidden. Theyâre locked away from the eyes of journalists and concerned members of the public. Theyâre misleadingly named.
Thatâs what a concentration camp is. And the immediate outrage to AOC calling them that is the right response. Hearing that the government is running concentration camps is something one should feel scrupulous towards. A concentration camp isnât the same as a death camp. We donât have those yet. But when Hitler ran his, they started as the former, extending to the latter.
Donât look away.
Hannah Arendt, imprisoned by the Gestapo and interned in a French camp, wrote about the levels of concentration camps. Extermination camps were the most extreme; others were just about getting âundesirable elements ⌠out of the way.â All had one thing in common: âThe human masses sealed off in them are treated as if they no longer existed, as if what happened to them were no longer of interest to anybody, as if they were already dead.â
Is that not what we were doing?
I hesitate to speak for my own ancestry, for my family members killed at Neuengamme camp along with more than 43,000 others. But I canât hesitate long enough to sway my thinking away from confirming what AOC already said.
Itâs easy to think of the Holocaust only in terms of the final outcome. But there was a beginning.
Donât look away. It started with fear mongering. It started with ghettoization. It started with hidden camps. Then, the pogroms. Then, the extermination camps.
Mass detention isnât new. But this president has made it a centerpiece of his rhetoric and his agenda. Heâs perfected the extreme language that dehumanizes immigrants. At a rally in Florida last month, Trump was bemoaning migrantsâ legal protections when someone in the audience suggested they should be shot. The president laughed and made a joke.
Through overcrowding and dehumanization, concentration camps became self-fulfilling prophecies. The culture of abuse leads to frustration and violence, thus âjustifyingâ their incarceration after the fact. Other citizens become desensitized to the dehumanization of a group of people and thus implicitly give approval for concentration camps by our lack of pushback.
Do you see it?
Itâs happening now.
Donât look away.
