now that the new year’s party was over, sun resumed her usual schedule. after she made her first book purchase of the year, she walked out of the library and smiled at nothing in particular.    “    i have a feeling that this year is going to be great,    ”    she said, then looked at the person next to her.    “    happy new year, by the way.    ”    ( @fantasiafallsstarters​ )

“  oh  !  happy  new  year  ,  ”  she  returns  with  a  warm  smile  ,  glancing  up  from  the  paper  cup  she’d  been  aimlessly  playing  with  the  sleeve  of  for  at  least  the  last  ten  minutes  .  “  what’ve  you  got  there  ?  anything  exciting  ?  ”  she  asks  ,  chin  tilting  towards  the  other’s  purchase  .  there’s  a  part  of  her  just  hoping  to  keep  the  conversation  going  (  anything  to  distract  herself  from  wandering  thoughts  and  quell  the  rosy  glow  of  her  cheeks  )  .

sure, danny got a little absent-minded from time to time, and he wouldn’t even call it absent-minded. more like his mind was in a million places all at once trying to weigh which thing needed his attention the most at that particular second, get it done as efficiently as possible so he could move onto the next thing, and over and over again! so locking his keys in his car right before a snow storm was maybe putting a slight wrench in his day, groaning as he leaned his forehead against the cold window, the keys glittering at him from the floormat, mocking him. damn it.

“you don’t know how to like… break into a car without totally wrecking it by any chance, do you?”

ariel’s  teeth  chatter  ,  fingers  furling  into  the  thin  lining  of  her  jacket  pocket  .  she  knows  she  should’ve  listened  and  worn  something  thicker  - -  warmer  - -  but  did  she  listen  ??  ‘course  not  .  she  was  stubborn  that  way  .  naturally  ,  she  also  picks  today  to  forget  her  parking  permit  at  home  ,  so  by  the  time  she  reaches  the  parking  lot  her  cheeks  are  already  a  little  frostbitten  and  flushed  .  giddy  thoughts  of  how  great  it’ll  be  to  finally  crank  on  her  heated  steering  wheel  and  seats  are  put  on  hold  ,  however  ,  when  the  male’s  question  greets  her  .  “  er  -  should  i  assume  this  is  your  car  ?  i’m  not  really  one  to  judge  but  if  it  isn’t  yours  ,   maybe  it  wasn’t  the  smartest  idea  to  tell  me  you  want  to  break  into  it  ,  ”  she  points  out  ,  a  mix  of  confusion  and  amusement  .  “  so  . . .  which  is  it  ?  ”  she  prompts  ,  eyebrow  quirking  in  curiosity  .  

“And then he back up into the side’a my barn, left a little damn note with a phone number, and drove off! I wasn’t outta the ranch in tie or I woulda given him a piece of my mind!” Despite it being the deep winter, Jessie was finding she could keep herself wonderfully warm with good company these days. Furthermore, her blood was boiling at the thought of the jackass who’d hit the side of her barn with his car earlier that week, “I mean, he better pray he’s got the world’s best insurance, this is serious stuff!”

ariel  pulls  her  bottom  lip  in  between  her  pearly  whites  ,  chewing  lightly  at  it  .  she’s  equal  parts  fearful  for  the  man  that  dared  to  cross  the  feisty  stable  owner  earlier  this  week  and  amused  by  the  thought  of  her  giving  anyone  a  piece  of  her  mind  .  she  sympathizes  ,  of  course  !  how  could  she  not  ?  but  boy  did  he  back  into  the  wrong  barn  .  “  jessie  ,  breathe  .  it’s  going  to  be  okay  ,  ”  she  assures  ,  stepping  forward  to  better  assess  the  damage  .  the  sight  wasn’t  pretty  ,  and  she  was  sure  the  inconvenience  was  made  that  much  worse  by  the  already  frigid  air  of  rome  pines’  oncoming  winter  .  “  did  he  at  least  seem  cooperative  when  you  called  him  ?  apologetic  ?  i’ll  show  him  a  piece  of  MY  mind  if  he  wasn’t  ,  ”  she  jests  ,  playfully  putting  her  fists  up  .  it  was  an  honest  attempt  at  turning  down  the  heat  and  easing  some  of  the  tension  rolling  off  of  jessie  before  she  spontaneously  combusted  before  ariel’s  eyes  .

                  she wasn’t afraid to leave the shop unsupervised and spend her time in the back. even if she didn’t always hear the front door opening, she could feel people’s presence and one must be out of their mind if they tried to steal from a witch. particularly from her. helen was looking at her tarot cards, reading for herself when she heard the front bell. she rose from her seat and made her way to the door that led her to the shop, her careful eyes falling upon the potential customer.    “    may i interest you in some crystals or spells ? perhaps a reading ?    ”    she asked, taking a seat at the main desk and supporting her chin with her thumb and index as she spoke.    ( @fantasiafallsstarters​ )

“Oh me gosh– did you see this? The Sci-Fi Watch-’n-Dine is having a double feature of Jupiter Jim films #44, The Day Mars Did the Conga, and #78, I Dated A Creature from the Milky Way?” It took everything in him not to snatch the advertisement from the bulletin board, and he instead whirled to face the closest person, eyes shining with excitement. “They finally took my suggestion of carrying Jupiter Jim films–” (in reality, they probably got tired of him filling their inbox with essays about it) “– is this not the greatest day of your life?” Rationally, he’d know that he and his brothers were likely the only fans left on earth of the incredibly dated B-rated sci fi franchise– but he was in geek mode, and there was no rational thinking here. Tilly had no intention of being in the center spotlight, she was more than happy to roam around the area trying to find what she could dig her feet into- or just finding a quiet area to read. Tilly was engulfed in her book she had in her hands, reading quietly to herself and just not being aware of her surroundings until she felt herself collide with someone, her novel dropping to the ground and ultimately losing her spot in the book. “Oh, my god!” Tilly exclaimed, shocked at what had just happened. “i’m so sorry, i wasn’t watching where I was going, and I’ve always been told to stop reading and walking,” She babbled on nervously, reaching down to grab her book, which was now covered in dirt. the  redhead  merely  giggles  at  tilly’s  fretful  babbling  ,  swiftly  waving  a  hand  through  the  air  in  dismissal  of  the  blonde’s  nervous  apology  .  it  wasn’t  as  if  she’d  been  paying  much  attention  herself  ,  but  how could she  ?  there  was  just  SO much  to  look  at  !  for  a  town  so  unfamiliar  and  new  to  magic  ,  the  fall  festival  certainly  felt  full  of  it  .  “  no  ,  no  ,  it’s  fine  .  honest  .  besides ,  daddy  always  says  my  head’s  too  far  up  in  the  clouds  for  my  own  good  ,  ”  she  points  out  .  “  of  course  .  .  .  he  can’t  ever  know  he’s  right  about  that  ,  so  we’ll  just  have  to  keep  the  truth  between  us  ,  ”  she  muses  ,  her  grin  soon  trading  itself  for  a  frown  once  she  catches  sight  of  the  dirt-covered  book  tucked  within  tilly’s  grip  .  “  it  isn’t  ruined  ,  is  it  ?  ”  

“All I’m saying is that it shouldn’t be this hard to throw a ring around the top of a milk bottle,” Michael said, frustrated at his fifth attempt at the carnival game. There was an absolutely amazing dinosaur that was hanging above the game and he was determined to win that as his prize. However - he didn’t realize that it would require a lot more skill than it looked. He stood with his hands on his hips in front of the booth, much like a shadow of his father ( although he’s sure his father would never even entertain the idea of coming to the festival ). “Is there some secret to this I’m just not aware of?” 

Walking out the back of Mccrea’s Anya let the door slam behind her before letting out a frustrated yell into the air. With dried milkshake covering the ends of her hair, ketchup stains lining the sleeves of her shirt and chocolate syrup smudge on her cheek Anya was quiet the vision. She needed this job though, they had been hard to come by as is, never mind factoring in all the new residents for Pastoral City now too. Kicking what she thought was a empty box Anya jumped back as pain shot through her foot. “Dammit!” Her voice rang out again as she held her foot, jumping around on her other leg before spotting someone rounding the corner. Quickly dropped her sore foot and attempting her best cool, calm and collected look Anya gave the other a soft smile with a wave and choked out a “hey, how’s it going?”
