Essential camping skill: Tetris experience

My (Michel) first night in Bangkok. After a pressing day this suddenly happened around diner time.

We are traveling to Christchurch along the east coast and apart from our day trips to Lake Tekapo and Mount Cook the countryside is a bit bleak. But after a tip from our hosts in Geraldine, we are now very happy to have found this excellent oasis in Barry’s Bay near Akaroa called Halfmoon Cottage. It will be the last of New Zealands beautiful scenery we will get to experience before flying back so we spend these two days chilling out and basking in the sun on the veranda.

Went on a trip in a boat on a lake with icebergs broken off from the Tasman glacier. Not very enjoyable with rain, wind and splashing from the boat but interesting nonetheless. We got a full refund though because the ride was cut short because of the weather conditions.

Lake Pukaki is a stunning turquoise color. In the background on the left is the highest mountain of New Zealand, Mount Cook.

Exploring a little bit into the Clifden Caves. Had to turn back soon because we were not equiped well enough.

The cruise to Doubtful Sound departs from Manapouri so after coming back we checked in at a motel opposite the beautiful Lake Manapouri

Some impressions of Doubtful Sound

The highlight of our trip so far, a journey deep into the Fiordland national park and out to sea on an overnight cruise aboard the Fiordland Navigator. A truly magical world that can hardly be captured on photo.
