August Booth/Sheriff Graham for a rarepair? There’s less than ten fics about them and I’m desperate for someone to converse with. They have so much in common story wise and Graham deserves someone who will treat him well and go on adventures with him.  

I have to say, I’ve never thought of this, but I dig it. Let me offer you my thoughts:

Let’s talk storyline first. Graham is the first one to start to wake up from the curse, other than Gold. August is one of the few people to believe and know the curse is real. If August had been in town when Graham was still strutting his stuff, they definitely would have had an interaction Maybe having a drink at Granny’s, August is a few stools down from Graham and notices he’s really putting them away. Of course he says something, and Graham vaguely alludes to thinking he’s going mad, and then asks August, “Do you ever feel like you’re another person? Like maybe there’s more than one version of you?” August is curious and prods him on, and Graham starts talking about his weird dreams and whatnot. At the end, August gives him a little wink and says, “I dunno…you don’t sound crazy to me.” And that’s what encourages Graham to keep investigating the weirdness. 

Character-wise, Graham is the epitome of good: the purest good, and not just because his cursed persona is literally the nicest person ever. As the Huntsman, he is separated from society, so he is untouched by their corruption. What Regina takes as sociopathy and heartlessness, is really a disdain for the immoral, corrupt cancer cell that humans are to the world (in Graham’s view). He’s all about respecting nature, cycle of life, he won’t harm anything innocent out of malice because he’s incapable. August, on the other hand, is SO SUSCEPTIBLE to corruption. He wants to be good, and he has to be good, or he’s back to being a Chucky doll. I think August’s struggle with morality would be an interesting tension between the two of them.

Anyway

August would talk to Graham about what’s happening and give him some subtle clues as to what’s happening to him.

August has the book so I feel like he would read up on Graham, just to see which character he is.

Grahams story is very short but they’re a lot to unpack with it. He starts realize that something is wrong because he cares about a Emma but he can’t feel is heart. His emotions are gone with his heart.

August would slowly make this more prominent, as Graham would develop feelings for him as he starts unraveling the truth behind Storybrooke.

August wouldn’t tell him anything directly, but he would tell him to stay away from Regina.

This would make August an enemy in her eyes and the next day Sydney would have an article painting him as this street thug or something.

Graham wouldn’t believe that August is a bad person, even if he hasn’t always done the right thing and that would act as so much motivation for August to be good.

August figuring out where Grahams heart is and giving it back to him.

He goes to Henry and ask him which character he thinks he is, it’s the same as in the show but i think August would have the book at this point and it’s “You kissed my uncle” instead of “you kissed my mom.”

I think wrote out a storyline for them at one point but I don’t remember the details so I’d have to look at a time line and figure it out.

I can totally see them working together though in operation Kobra with Henry, because let’s be honest they would have been great uncles.

Speaking of good uncles, they would be so good to Henry. Everyone else thinks he’s crazy or they don’t believe him but they respect Henry so much and they would take him seriously.

Wolf, the white one that followed Graham for a while but then never showed up again for some reason, would stay around.

I can totally see Wolf becoming a sheriff deputy, like this dog can arrest people now and Grumpy is having none of it.

I can see Grumpy giving the dog a bone or something to eat a parking ticket and then Graham just arrest him for, “bribing an officer”.

I think they would both plan to leave Storybrook at one point but could never go through with it because the town is always in danger, so instead they’d just get a cabin in the woods.

August wouldn’t want to be with Graham at first, they would flirt but when he starts caring for Graham, this would get worse after Graham kisses him.

Graham would just think it’s because he’s straight. One night on petrol Graham and Emma would be talking and she’s mentioned how August was in fact not straight, and then Graham would be confused.

So he would show up at August apartment later and just ask him what’s going on. August would fumble over everything, and Graham would sit him on the couch and cup his face and be all, “hey, you’ve been pushing me away and Im sorry if I’ve crossed a line somewhere, but I care about you, and I want to spend everyday I can with you,” and August would melt. Because Graham is so effortlessly honesty and good and August believes he could never be like him and he’s scared of tainting Graham by being too close.

I’ll write more but this is what I could come up with at the moment. Sorry for making you wait, school had started and I had college essays to write.

• August telling Graham that whatever he does he shouldn’t tell Regina about these flashes he’s been having. And he shouldn’t confront her. August knows what the Queen is capable of and he won’t take any chances until he has gotten the heart back

• August gets the heart back and Regina hunts him down. She tells him “you’ll pay for this” and tries to get August’s heart but seeing as he’s turning into wood it’s not possible. Graham brings Emma as back up so Regina goes away (for now)

• Graham kissing August who still turned back to wood by the end of the season. He finds him in his room at Granny’s and kisses him shortly after the curse is lifted.

• Or August leaves for the forest bc he can’t face Graham like this, he won’t want him, so we get Graham looking for him. August still warns people about Tamara and dies, but Graham kisses him and he turns back to human, still an adult. OR he could turn back into a kid, and Graham is happy he’s alive but also sad bc his love is gone (but then we get a reunion on S4 where Graham goes to rescue him from Gold)

• You know who’d be perfect to introduce the two of them? Red. She and Graham would be good friends and she’s like “There’s someone you should meet, he’s new in town”

• Both of them being there for each other when nightmares come. At first Graham is quiet after them and goes to another room or soemthing, and August tries to dismiss his as nothing important but they eventually open up to each other

i just felt the need to make a post. life has been picking up speed for me, which is good because i’ve got a really cool (non paid) position as a research assistant and I’m just trying to organize my shit for applying to grad school next year.

But.

i haven’t had time to update any fics, but i feel so so so guilty because i’ve gotten multiple messages asking me whether i’ve abandoned them. the answer is:

I am writing everything, still. Even the ones no one reads. Even the countless Tumblr prompts you forgot you sent. 

I’m starting to get a schedule put together, so hopefully i’ll be able to get some stuff out sooner rather than later. But mostly, i just want to thank you guys for having enough of an interest in my writing and gifs to ask whether they’re still happening. This is not a cry for attention, this is a genuine appreciation and love post. i am so overwhelmed with gratitude for even the slightest acknowledgement, i could bleed myself dry for you guys. i might sound overdramatic, but it’s true because even the smallest comment or like on my stuff gives me such a booster shot of self-esteem. i haven’t had a depressive thought since i started writing fic five years ago, so really–thank you.
