“All I was asking is if you like them or not. And you don’t, you dress at least like a 15 year old boy.”

“Yeah, they’re cool. And thanks. I appreciate it.” 

“Well Gerald is a good boy with good taste,” Lilura answered attempting to keep her voice from going full baby toned as she saw the adorable dog. “I take requests but first I have to know who is requesting! Which one of you is it going to be?”

“He gets away with everything because he’s cute. Don’t be blinded by it,” he said. “If it’s him are you more likely to take it?” 

“Just be grateful you even got a drink. I almost walked out before I even spotted you.” Vera shrugged. Maybe it didn’t seem like it but she was trying her hand at doing the whole being nice thing. “You are not but no. Whoever said its easier to talk to strangers than friends? They’re full of bullshit.” She pressed her lips together but sat down on the spare seat opposite him nonetheless.

“Thank you,” he smiled. “What makes you say that? You feel more judged by strangers?” he asked, taking a sip from his cup as she sat across from him. 

“If you’re going to call me Lizzy then fuck no. I don’t even like you in the slightest, Bassy boy.”

“Not at all? Not even the littlest, tiniest bit?”

Graham couldn’t hold back his smile completely upon Otto’s reaction. “I’m sorry. I just think that it will be better for us, in the long run, to be honest,” he played along. “How do you feel about pasta and piano music?” 

“I thought all great relationships were built on lies and deception?” he joked. “It depends-- do you consider pasta and piano music a date?”

“I don’t know what I have done to deserve this assumption but I will take it,” Michaela nodded. “Even if it is not true. You don’t need to know the wiser.”

“I mean, from our current situation, you look a little less put together, but we’ll let it slide for now since you’re hurt and it’d be mean to pick on you, I guess.” 

“I need a break from being all serious, but you’re telling me this is a serious question. So– I’m afraid I can’t answer,” she gave him a small smile, leaning back in her chair to look up at him.

“That-- you can’t call me out like that,” he stated, eyebrows pulling together. “Okay, so it’s not serious to anyone but me, so it doesn’t count as serious to you, so you can answer me.” 

Her fingers slipped down, riding down his neck delicately, resting on his shoulders. “Maybe,” she smiled gently. “You can be your true self. Your true self doesn’t have to set alarms. Do you want another compliment? Ask.”

He returned the soft smile, continuing to enjoy her soft touch. “What’s the fun in asking for compliments? Then they just feel forced.”

“What do we think? Too much? I worked overtime, I don’t want to blow it on something ugly.”

“I mean, I’ve been told I dress like a twelve year old boy, so I’m not sure you want my opinion.” 

“Well… Meet Coco!” Bridget held up the little Westie that was looking around intently at her new surroundings. “Shes a little smaller than I wanted, but they said she had been at the shelter awhile and she was so cuddly.. I couldn’t just leave her.” 

“Hey, you did it! She’s adorable. What finally pushed you over the edge?” 

“What the fuck. I’m losing my faith in you already. Not that I had very much to start out with.”

“Aw come on, Lizzy. You know you love me.”

“A hot chocolate. So that we can call it even and never have to talk about any of that stuff again.” She placed a kids sized cup down in front of him.

“I can’t even get an adult sized cup?” he asked but took a sip anyways. “We can still talk, you know? I mean, I know I’m not your first choice for that kinda stuff, but that should make it easier, right?”

Reese rolled her eyes up at him, but it was playful, a small smile painted to her lips. “I now regret giving you those 3 seconds of attention.”

“I’m asking the serious questions here! The world needs answers and you need a break from being all serious, so-- giraffes.”

“You’ve got no idea how nice,” Aaliya teased, hand absentmindedly staying in his hair, roaming through. “No, you’ll come off too desperate and I won’t want to compliment you.”

“Maybe I’ll find out one day,” he mused, enjoying the feeling of her fingers in his hair. “Well, damn. Here I thought I could be my true self around you, but I’m too desperate.” 

“You know, this whole time I thought that I did. Now I’m not so sure.”

“Ouch. That hurts,” he said with a flare of dramatics, his hand coming up to cover his heart. “What would you propose we do instead then, hm?”

“Oh,” Michaela couldn’t hold back a smile though her cheeks blushed slightly. “What does that say about me then? I have a purse and still no bandaids?”

“I’d say that means we’re both unprepared,” Otto nodded. “I feel like yours is more a one off, though. You look like you’re generally pretty well prepared for things.” 

“Alright, if you bought me here to play Tiddlywinks then I’m out.”

“Damn, that’s too bad. I brought you out here specifically to tiddle.”
