I know there is some major serious shit going on in the world - natural disasters, a natural disaster sitting in the White House - but I can I please just vent about how WTF my day was today. OMFG. 🤦‍♀️

Talked tonight with my almost 7 year old about how tomorrow’s a big day for our country. He knows my feelings about the incoming president. But we talked about how I want him to succeed, because if he does well we all do well (thanks 44). More importantly, we discussed how my son has a spelling test tomorrow, and what happens if he doesn’t prepare, doesn’t study, doesn’t practice for that test. He told me he’d fail. And I told him that’s one big reason I worry about our new president. Because if you work hard, study and practice you can succeed. But what PEOTUS has been doing leading up to tomorrow, well even a first grader can see that’s a potential for failure.

The holidays are a great juxtaposition of family time and family guilt. Balancing your own family and your in laws when you don't live in the vicinity is a real high wire act. And it sucks because the only person who truly ends up feeling the aggravation is you.

Alright everyone. Our woe is me moment is coming to an end. If you are unhappy with the results of yesterday's election, it's time to wipe away those tears, get up, dust yourself off and pull on the big girl (or boy) pants. Get out there, get active. Be part of the political process. Volunteer. Give a smile or a hug to someone in need. This is not the end of the story of America. It just might not be your favorite chapter.

Stressing myself out on the train home because I can’t tell if a fellow passenger is pregnant or not and I don’t want to offend her if I offer her my seat 😁🚃

It took one guy with a bomb in his shoe to forever change how we go through security before we board a plane. How many innocent lives lost will it take to change the access and availability of guns? I read that the cast of Hamilton removed the muskets from their performance at the Tony's last night. Maybe those who distort the Second Amendment needed a reminder of exactly the type of guns our forefathers were referring to.

Side effect of surgery giving me strange pause - I dropped the 10 pounds I couldn't lose post-two kids, basically putting me back to my college weight. I've gotten tons of "you look amazing" commentary from "jealous" mom friends struggling with those last pounds of baby weight. All I can think is "you too can lose weight with two surgeries and countless fun side effects." I know it's a rare plus losing the weight, but I can't help but get all kinds of *feelings* about those comments.
