In the blue corner… hailing from Silay City, Negros, notorious online as the enfante terrible Hubineer, is award-winning graphic designer and artist Ginoe! They weave together cutouts of male boxers and dancers. Limbs are detached, and configured into the body work of cataclysm, and force majeure. The velocity of a haymaker becomes the velocity of a comet—brace for impact!
In the pink corner… hailing from Indang, Cavite, known for their otherworldly rendering and figuration, is the veteran artist and illustrator Tokwa Penaflorida! Their images clinch together intimacy and violence, often entwined in relations between men. Twist your foot as you jab, then take your partner’s hand as you backpedal, keeping in time with the music. The boxer, with his face bruised and bloodied, raises his fists—the next round begins!
Featuring 11 new works on paper, the two sensational artists go toe-to-toe, pitting collage against watercolor. Their figurations clash in slow motion, blurring into streaks of blue and pink!
