pure poetry
In light of recent events, I have begun submitting bug reports when I see mature content labels applied inappropriately to posts, especially if an appeal has been rejected.
Extremely good idea - how are you doing it? Through the contact us option?
Yeah itâs one of the options on the Contact Support form:
for what it's worth: after a few months of submitting help tickets as 'feedback' when i saw a post inappropriately flagged as mature, i tried following this suggestion instead. today i got my first-ever response from tumblr support on this issue, letting me know that a post i'd submitted a ticket before has had its mature content flag removed.
Hey it worked! Maybe if enough of us make a stink theyâll fix the fucking system.
This is legitimately brilliant. Bug burndown reports (the rate at which your software team can close bugs) is a major metric for most software houses.
It takes an extra step in our part, but this is part of what makes it effective. It's not one click, one reblog activism and it hits them where they care: their damn KPIs.
The thing about Robby's "Al-Hashimi? What is that?" line is I would bet "Robinavitch? What is that?" is a something he's heard before. Slavic names and Jewish names are both treated as weird, funny, and confusing by a lot of Americans. He also grew up with a Russian surname in the 70s and 80s when the Cold War was still going on.
itâs also important to note that for Jews, meeting someone with a name that is, or looks similar to, âHashemâ can be very confusing. âHashemâ literally translates to âthe nameâ in Hebrew and is one of the most common terms we use for G-d (not âYahwehâ as is a common misconception.) when I first learned that Hashem was a common Jordanian last name, I was completely flomoxed (though unlike Dr. Robby, I had the sense to keep that surprise inside and Google if the words are related. Theyâre not and are pronounced differently)
Thatâs a great point! Iâm Jewish but Iâm not practicing so while I know about Hashem my mind doesnât immediately go there, but it totally makes sense that it would for a lot of Jews. Also Robbyâs last name is related to the word ârabbiâ so if anyone would be primed to go there he would.

the football analysis we all need
Best Mega Evolution Tournament- Round 1: Match 10
Mega Eelektross vs Mega Baxcalibur
Mega Eelektross
Mega Baxcalibur
Another set of newer Megas duke it out for a place in next Round!
Eelektross, a Pokémon that has no weakness, gets a kinda gross power up when it mega evolves! The mega evolution energy that flows through its body causes it to secrete an electrified mucus that coats the back of its body and its arms, with the arms taking on a shape similar to its pre-evolution, Eelektrik. This mucus allows it to generate and then discharge 10 times the amount of electric energy that it could before, making it far more deadly! But that's not all Mega Eelektross is good for- while the mucus melts away after mega evolution ends, apparently some people freeze and preserve it for use in beauty regimens and strength training... but it's not clear if that's really an effective use for it. Do you think Canari, Mega Eelektross' most famous trainer, uses the mucus for that?
Mega Baxcalibur is a fearsome beast, and one of the strongest Ice types to ever exist! Upon mega evolution, the sail on its back takes on a blade like shape, extending through its chest too, and forming a hilt-like shape that it can fire beams of ice energy from. It can also generate far more ice energy than before too, with a lot of it being necessary to stabilise its centre of gravity and support the giant blade on its back! Despite the great size and weight of said blade, Mega Baxcalibur also has enhanced reaction speed and muscle agility, able to perform quick, explosive movements. And backed up an absolutely monstrous 175 Attack, I'd watch out! It has the highest Attack of any Ice type Pokémon, and is tied with the fused Kyurem forms for the highest base stat total of any Ice type too. As the latest pseudo-Legendary to gain a Mega form, it can certainly hold its own. If not just out of terror, will it be getting your vote?
Best Mega Evolution Tournament- Round 1: Match 9
Mega Scrafty vs Mega Golurk
Mega Scrafty
Mega Golurk
Two Gen 5 Pokémon who got some love from the recent release of Legends Z-A and its DLC are now going up against one another!
Mega Scrafty is a tough fighter for sure! Upon mega evolving, Scrafty's skin pales, becoming more resilient, like a strong outer armour. It covers its head and back with its hoodie-like skin, then adopts an imposing stance, ready for battle. In Legends Z-A, Mega Scrafty was most commonly seen as the ace Pokémon of Naveen, whose own style matches the Mega very well! Interestingly, of the 100 base stat points Scrafty gains upon mega evolving, almost half of them go to its defenses, making it a tough, tanky Pokémon- moreso than it already was! A beloved Pokémon with a sense of style, does it earn your vote?
On the other side is Mega Golurk! Also hailing from Unova, this Pokémon has been held together by the seal that contains its unstable energy- but not any more! Mega evolution has powered it up to the point where its seal can't contain it any longer, and Mega Golurk is now constantly on the precipice of detonating. With 35 more points in its Attack stat, that 159 Attack makes the threat of explosion all the more frightening! Mega Golurk's only weakness is how slow it is- not even the move Protect can fully stop it, with its ability allowing it to break through and do 25% of damage anyway! This form sees Golurk reaching beyond the potential its ancient creators could envision for it, and now it's become a very scary battlefield threat. Has that earned a vote in its favour?

did someone say Max Klinger Monday?
I love that Leverage really goes out of itâs way to show us that just because you break the ârulesâ, it doesnât mean youâre breaking the rules. Rules and laws and society are all made up, at the end of the day, and all you really have is your own moral compass and sense of justice; is this just to you? Is it right? Should it be OK for companies to put people in insurmountable debt for the rest of their lives just because our medical care is so expensive in this modern day and age? No law or rule should change what you know in your heart is right and wrong, and I think thatâs the key thing that makes someone a good person in my eyes.
#there was a time when parker wouldnât have noticed, #not because she lacked the capacity to care, #but because she had narrowed herself, #to stay alive she cut off as many unnecessary things as possible, #watching her get them all back, #is one of the glories of this show (via @seananmcguire)
Leverage hands down has the best character development Iâve ever seen.
This scene hit me like a brick. My parents were hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt when I was 16 bc Iâd had cancer the year before (my treatment ended up being free but the initial ER bills and such were not).
But somewhere along the line they just⊠Disappeared. My mom says theyâre not being paid and theyâre not in collections. Itâs almost as if someone out there didâŠexactly what Parker did.
Ever since I saw this the first time, Iâve imagined it was Parker doing it. That she and Hardison had a free weekend and decided to take it out on a collections agency. That I was one of the lucky ones who got a little Leverage.
Okay but like yeah, that is actually a thing that happens, albeit not exactly like this. I donât remember the exact process but basically thereâs a booming industry to sell peoples debt - the business you owe money to sells it to someone else for a fraction of the money owed, wipes their hands of the whole affair, and now whoever bought your debt is riding your ass to get you to give the money to the. But itâs also entirely possible for people to just⊠buy up massive amounts of debt for pennies on the dollar, and then just. Forgive it. Because capitalism is a living nightmare, but the system is broken enough that itâs possible to exploit it for good sometimes.
Like, the main reason I know about this is because John Oliver did a piece on debt buying a few years ago, and ended it by revealing that heâd bought 15 million dollars worth of medical debt just so he could forgive all of it. Both to expose how broken the system was because some random fucker like him could buy millions of dollars in peoples debt with zero regulations, and also just to take the record for biggest TV giveaway in history.
A charity where you can do this, right here.
Be Parker! Be somebody elseâs Leverage!
Reblogging for the website.
yes! if you want to help with the medical debt crisis in the US and have some extra money please donate to RIP Medical Debt if you can. Theyâre completely legit and really do what they say - you really CAN relieve an incredible amount of debt for the needy with even a small donation. Iâm a monthly donor and receive a quarterly report of the debt theyâve abolished, and it truly is amazing. Based on those reports the average amount of debt abolished per person is actually I would say about $600 - which means, if youâre doing the math, that with a $6 donation to RIP Medical Debt, you can potentially pull one person out of a poverty spiral - maybe even one family. For six dollars. thatâs a pretty good deal, I think.
RIP Medical Debt is now called Undue Medical Debt!
Undue Medical Debt makes it easy for donors to make an impactful difference in the lives of those struggling with medical debt.
