The struggle
We’ve all been there. That time where we want to change but just can’t seem to do it. Where you want to stop reaching for those cookies, and you want to hit the gym. You find yourself stuck in bed with some ice cream watching Netflix shows that I’d nothing but take up time.
I’ve had this struggle back and forth for so long it’s exhausting. I’ve been lucky enough to be able to attend a retreat where I’ve learned some tools to help me get over these hurdles.
I’m on a continuous journey in life where I find my passion for a healthy lifestyle always out weighing a sedentary lifestyle. There are more days than others where I find myself talking down because I haven’t been able to achieve my daily goals or activity levels that I’d hoped. That’s where my tools from Hoffman come in. When I find myself lacking I take the time to do a 5 minute visualization of what I want to achieve.
Maybe at night I’ll take a moment to see myself waking up in the morning, motivated and ready to take on the day. Other days I’ll visualize myself studying and reading and taking time to do the things I love. When I’m not able to foreshadow and I look back and feel sorry for meals for sitting and watching my husband play video games I’ll take the time to go back and visualize myself playing out that scenario differently; I’ll see myself getting up and reading or take some time for journaling rather than just sitting on the couch watching the tv.
There are so many distractions in our lives today that we really need to focus on what we want in life. See ourselves doing these things then physically doing them.
It’s one day at a time, one moment at a time. If we take the 5 minutes a day and visualize ourselves being productive then I believe we will be more productive.
Take the 5 minute challenge for a week and note how it makes you feel.
