He felt like he was learning something new every time Caleb opened his mouth. A crew? At least he hadn’t been alone all this time. That was good. Being alone was… Difficult.
“I guess I’ll have to meet this ‘crew’ of yours first.” He shrugged. “Before I make any decisions.” Though it would be hard to step away from a familiar face. It’s all he had wanted for so long. He didn’t want to lose it - to lose Caleb. Not again. He hoped that Caleb’s friends would understand the sentiment. It was awfully lonely being one of the last. He didn’t want to go back to that.
… And it sounded like Caleb hadn’t, either. That was the most surprising news of all.
“A padawan?” He blinked. He knew what that meant, but it had to process for a moment before it really sunk in. A padawan. A new generation. A new life. “Huh.”
It’s a simple response, but he’s trying to roll around whatever emotion he’s feeling in his mind until he figures it out. Then he smiles.
“That’s amazing.” And it is. It’s incredible. “You certainly have been keeping busy.” He glances back to Caleb and raises a curious brow.
“How long have you been training them?”
He smiled upon his words, “ Of course. I think they would be excited to meet you. Anyone from my past I’m sure they would enjoy. Besides, they would probably want some stories by someone who knew me, ” he shook his head at the thought. No, Caleb didn’t share much of what happened to him or his life before. The only person who knew the most was probably Hera. Even then she didn’t exactly know everything. Most things Caleb wanted to forget about it, “ Just promise me you will give me a little grace. ” to this, he chuckled.
In all honesty, he didn’t want to leave a friend. He lost so much, and all he wanted to was to keep and save. Meeting up with Braig after all these years felt good. To know that he wasn’t the last one, that his friend of all things survived. He hoped Braig would make the choice to stay. He really couldn’t see the crew saying no to that. It would mean the galaxy to him. However, in the end, it was Braig’s choice.
Caleb never really saw himself as a teacher, seeing that he never finished his own training, but the boy needed guidance. He couldn’t allow him to fall to temptations, to be vulnerable around the darkness. It was safer that he learned now that he had explored his abilities, “ Yeah... I just hope I’m doing him justice. I never really saw myself as a teacher, and really didn’t think to be either. ” he shrugged his shoulders.
“ Not too terribly long. Ezra is a good kid, but he has lots to learn yet. ”
