cyclists being obsessive watt counters is pretty helpful for putting hyperlight gear into perspective

like in most conditions im going to be paying 2-3w per kg. my cheap tent is 4kg, and i could pay about £300 more (5x what the tent cost) to get a 2kg tent and save 4-6w. alternatively i could pay £40 for some chain wax and save a similar amount (if not more). an extra £700 would get me a 0.5kg tent for a saving of 7-11w, which is what i could get out of a £100 pair of tyres. ultralight tent pegs and stoves are probably getting beaten out by aero socks

#cutting weight is nice and i do have a lighter daily driver bike lock specifically for that #but air resistance is the real enemy
