The tents always send a frisson of excitement through my bones. Is it the same for you? Even when the Circus hasn't yet opened it's gates for the night (or even set them up, as the case may be), the anticipation is delicious.

Sometimes it can be fun to blend in with the strikingly striped tents...

The Crystal Ball tent can be disorienting, but if you can focus closely enough, many secrets can be revealed...

The Silent Symphony gown is quite the feat from Atelier Padva - if you brush your hand across the shimmering fabric, the notes sound in your mind, threading your thoughts with snippets of the most beautiful, intricate music.

A lovely treat - take a bite, and melodies bloom inside your mind of their own volition. Take another, and the song changes. More curious still - if two people share a treat, their songs are not the same, but the melodies will compliment each other (if they can remember them and carry a tune...)

Remnants of the previous night's festivities are always visible the next morning...

Amongst the tents and pathways, there are sometimes even smaller structures, glowing with warmth and light. There seems to be signs of life emanating from the little houses - laughter and music, joyous voices and scents of delicious foods. But any time you try to peer inside the windows, or listen closer, the sounds seem to fade...but they return the moment you look away. Curious...

The Circus must be back in town!

Have you ever sampled a Ghost Apple? They are rife around the Circus in the autumn, even if they don’t normally grow wherever the Circus has set up camp. Nobody can ever agree what they taste like, if they can remember what the flavor is at all. But one thing everyone who tries them can agree on is that they taste of a cherished memory, and are utterly delicious.

Occasionally, you might find delicious treats in curious places. For instance, these charming mushrooms seem to be growing upon a tree that sits near the edge of the path. But if you look closely, there is a tiny hand-written tag that identifies them as yet another Night Circus confectionery.

Sometimes there are stories, or letters, or maps written on the last autumn leaves as they fall...
