DAISY JONES & THE SIX Episode 3: Someone Saved My Life Tonight
although horses were mesmerizing, and the maddox family had horses at one of their country side estates, mila never really cared to learn how to ride them. the ballerina sure appreciated them and took care of them more often than not, but the thought of possibly getting hurt and not being able to dance was probably the main reason why she stayed away from riding. “ truthfully, ” the dirty blonde said as she looked at the horses. “ i have never ridden one either. ballet was too important for me to risk losing. ” and it still is. “ think i missed my shot. ”
hand stroked along the nose once, twice more, before gabriela properly turned her attention to the other woman. she didn't feel quite so out of it knowing that she wasn't the only one who hadn't spent the whole of her childhood riding horses. her family hadn't grown up with money, one of five kids, there wasn't much room for extra curriculars for any of them. "well at least we're non-riders together." her shoulders shrugged lightly. "i mean, i'm willing to give it a shot if you are? if you want? i mean, when in... germany, i guess?" maybe riding a horse wouldn't be so scary if she wasn't doing it alone.
daisy was trying to fit in harder than she'd like to admit. she wanted it to come as effortless, like she'd been here for ages, but she feels like everyone can see right through that. but at a petting zoo, she felt more at home than she did sword fighting or in the gardens. she smiled at gabriela, replying, "i know, right? it's crazy. i mean, i've seen monkeys in zoos and stuff but never anything like this." she doesn't bother to mention that the closest zoo to her hometown was sixty miles from her house so she rarely got to go. she has learned that people don't really appreciate those sorts of stories from her. at least not in these circles, they might be fine for interviews to seem more relatable or a rags to riches story but most people here don't care about that. "definitely one for the memory books. the monkey is pretty cute, isn't he? or she?"
gabriela wasn't sure how she felt about monkeys, if she was being entirely honest. it was one thing to have the standard, little goats, chickens, perhaps a sheep. but this was a little more than she was used to. but this was the life she'd worked so hard to get into. "yeah this is a whole different thing altogether. i guess it's not a bad life for them, getting to hang around with all these rich folk all day." she laughed, shrugging her shoulders a little at the question. "oh i have no idea. i think i heard someone else say the monkey was a boy, but i don't know if they'd just gotten in to the bar too much and making things up." which, could be likely considering the personalities of some of the people that they were spending their time with. "have you had a chance to do many of the other activities yet? archery sounds like it's a laugh, but i'm worried it might unlock something in me."
been around horses enough that it no longer gave her some sort of thrill — only a healthy respect for their space and the knowledge that one could squish her without meaning to. “ you either like it or you don't. i never really liked it, ” comes her idle answer as she scrolls through her feed, looking for a specific account that'd popped up earlier. one where she could purchase her teacup pig and have it waiting for her by the time they returned to new york, if she could find the same exact fawn color that was in the petting zoo not too far away. “ you'd have to have started young, definitely, if you wanted to do something significant with it. ”
"sounds far too intense for me. and time consuming." and if there was one thing in life that gabriela was short on these days, it was time. between working within the legal profession and everything else in her life, she couldn't exactly commit to large amounts of time picking up a sport that she couldn't excel at. "i don't think i'm missing out, too much." perhaps that was easy for her to say, given that it was a world that she'd never set foot in before. it was hard to know if you'd never had it, but sometimes that meant that the feeling of missing out was far lesser. "did you do it a lot? or just... seasonally?"

fingers brush absently over the coarse mane , tracing the subtle lines where the horse’s muscles ripple . dare he admit it out loud , but it was just before christmas when he got back on a horse after twenty years . max shrugs , nonchalant . “ sometimes it doesn't interest people . ” a small smile tugs at one side of his mouth in mild amusement before he turns his head to meet her gaze . “ but there is always a first time for everything … ” tone lilts in suggestion, though with pure innocence . was there something stopping her ? faint glimmer of mischief dances in his eyes as that grin stretches into a smirk . “ i mean , you may as well while you're here , right ? ”
there was something about the look on his face that made gabriela feel a little uncertain. she hadn't felt intimated by the height and power of the horse when her feet had been firmly planted in the ground, but the suggestion of changing that? of observing the horse from being sat in the saddle? that was a world that she wasn't familiar with, and the lawyer didn't often fair well in times of uncertainty, of being out of control. "are you suggesting i get on it?" that had been completely evident from his words, but perhaps gabriela was giving him the smallest opportunity to back track before she really had to make the decision. "it could kill me."
wired earpods stuck in ear, one emerald earring tangled with the strands, dark chocolate take in the gentle strokes along the horse but alaia keeps distance on purpose. " you're not really missing out, " femme responds earnestly as she remembers own childhood. summers abroad, horseback riding on the beach because that's what everyone does ⸺ too loud, too noisy, not the kind artist likes. " like skiing you mean ? i think you can pick it up as an adult but i don't see why you would ... so are you gonna ? "
there was a little bit of comfort to be had in the fact that she hadn't really missed out on not riding horses before, at least in the view of her companion. if she was being honest, she never gave it much consideration as a child, but that might have just been because it wasn't something she ever came within the orbit of. "oh, yeah i haven't ever done that either. there just isn't really anything appealing to me about potentially being beaten up by a mountain." that, and gabriela had never really been that enamored by the cold. "should i? or do you think i've left it too late in life? be honest."
Sunny escaped the heart of sanssouci festivities half-livid and half-bewildered, like he'd misread the premise entirely – when this was advertised to him as a welcome respite from city life, he did not imagine having to run away from a fucking court jester.
He stumbled into the stables, shivering from the cold and biting into a ripe red apple as he leaned over one of the railings. With his back to the entrance, Sandro scribbled notes, a bay warmblood trying to nuzzle closer for a bite of the apple he was taking forever to finish, its breath warm against his palm.
A vaguely familiar voice cut through his thoughts, and Sandro turned, careful not to show the surprise. Gabriela Perez. When The Bianchi Briefs featured an episode on Public Trust, it seemed only fitting to allude to the hilarity of New York's current DA situation. It would actually feel like a crime not to do it.
He wasn't sure, though, if Gabriela shared the sentiment.
"Hello", he'd said, watching her with expectant attention. Would she reconsider the friendliness? Was he due for his favourite ride on a guilt tripping merry go round?
had she known exactly who she was talking to before she'd opened her mouth, she never would have bothered starting the conversation. if therre was one thing that a perez could do, it was hold a grudge against someone who had wronged them. and with the comments that sunny had made on is show, there was no doubt that she was feeling aggrieved.
"oh." lips pursed as eyes looked the other up and down in a quick, but very clear glance. "hello." lips pursed together, the silence thick and heavy as she contemplated her next move. there was no pretending that she hadn't been hurt by his words, by the suggestion that she'd been covering for her brother from inside the walls for the da's office. but was now the time to bring it up? this place was filled with people that she didn't want to witness any sort of kick off.
"at the risk of you telling more lies about me, i'm going to leave."
idris looked at the beast and smiled, hand falling down the neck of the horse in front of him. " i didn't have the money when i was young. but i got into it as an adult. i suddenly had a fuck tonne of money and a hard time relaxing, but riding these bad boys, it's freeing in a crazy way. " he nodded to the horse. " you gonna try it? need help getting up? "
"so your idea of learning to relax was to get on a giant animal running at thirty miles an hour?" each to their own, gabriela supposed, but she couldn't say that it was the sort of thing that she might have found relaxing. "have you ever tried a massage. far less scary." she suggested, her tone light despite the fact that she was being deadly serious in her alternative option. "i could die if i get on that horse. do you want that blood on your hands?" she'd need a little more convincing.
she doesn't realize that she's trailed off mid sentence, hues locked on the toddler attempting to run back and forth with the smaller bunch of the animals in the zoo until she releases the breath that she'd been holding. “ sorry. i'm not sure why she's waited until now to keep trying to send me to an early grave. ” no sense of fear, only wanting to find the next shiniest thing that caught her attention, and londen was certain that by the time they left she'd have to have made every stuffed animal that the booth had so that miri wouldn't throw a colossal fit. “ what were we talking about ? uh … right, anyway. have you seen any of the animatronics yet ? they're disney level worthy. ”

gabriela offered a light laugh as her eyes flitted between the toddler and londen. "isn't that what kids are for?" she suggested, though wasn't exactly an expert on the topic for herself. spending time with children wasn't something that was often taking up blocks of time in her calendar. "i can't say that i have, but i can certainly go and check them out." arms folded over her chest as she continued to speak, "you know, i've never been to disney. like, to any of them. i think i might have left it too late now." growing up poor had meant that the closest she'd managed to get was a commercial on the television. "but with the way everything else is around here, i'm not surprised that they've spent a fortune."

open to: anyone & everyone ! location: horse stables, sanssouci palace.
hand stroked carefully along the nose of the large stallion that she'd somehow managed to befriend. despite her small frame, she wasn't overly intimidated by the horse in the way that she'd heard others would be. "you know, i don't think i've ever actually ridden a horse." it wasn't exactly something that was readily available when she'd been growing up, nor had she ever felt the need to try once she'd entered into adulthood. "maybe once at some sort of summer camp, but i can't really remember." she spoke idly to the person beside her. "i think it's one of those things you either learn to do really young if you have the chance, or it just passes you by."
open starter featuring daisy knight

daisy was a little overwhelmed which would surprise absolutely nobody who knew her. these sort of events made her imposter syndrome kick in at full force. she had always been an outsider to the world of fame and she had grown used to the feeling for the most part. but this felt like it was just reminding her of how much of an outsider she truly was on a different level. nevertheless, she tried to push that thought to the back of her mind and enjoy the moment as much as she could. and hey, a petting zoo seemed like a cute idea. she had grown up around farm animals just by nature of her hometown and going to county fairs. "never got to pet a monkey on any of the farms back home." she laughs, musing to herself and to whoever is around really.
a petting zoo wasn't exactly her sort of place, but gabriela was adopting the 'when in rome' mentality. she had to make the most of her time, after all, and apparently that meant risking any number of diseases that she was running off in her head that might be found on the animals. the brunette was very much keeping her hands to herself, petting with only her eyes as she kept behind one of the fences. "i'm not sure petting a monkey was something i ever envisioned doing." she quipped in return, hands keeping fimly clasped behind her back, eyes narrowing as she watched the creatures with almost an element of suspicion. "it's certainly not the norm." but then in this day and age, what was ? "one for the memory books, though?"

lights strung overhead made the whole place glow, music spilling out onto the courtyard where people were already dancing and laughing like they’d forgotten the outside world existed. isla leaned against the bar, swirling a themed cocktail she hadn’t quite decided if she liked yet. she glanced sideways when someone took the spot next to her. “important question, and answer carefully,” she said, head tilting slightly toward them. “are you here for the aesthetic..” gaze flicking briefly over their fit. “.. or because this is the only place on the property serving alcohol?” a small, playful smile followed. “the answer determines whether i offer to buy your next drink.”
eyebrows raised as isla spoke, her experience told her that sometimes the question that followed a statement like that wasn't always as straightforward as one might like it to be. "if i said it was both, would you find that convincing?" of course, the bar had biggest of appeals, but gabriela couldn't pretend like the decor wasn't a plus. "but i think the bar was the biggest of selling points. does that make me a bad person?" she asked, pulling a face that might suggest that was how she might see herself in that moment. "does that answer pass the test, or should i get my own?" she teased with a smile.
[ diane guerrero, cis female, she/her ] hey, i think i just served GABRIELA PEREZ ! you mean the THIRTY FIVE year old ATTORNEY known for their TAILORED DESIGNER DRESSES PAIRED WITH EXQUISITE STILETTOS, A CLASSIC FRENCH MANICURE, AND SENTIMENTAL JEWELRY THAT DOESN'T ALIGN WITH HER FASHION ? no way, what did they order ? APEROL SPRITZ. wow, no surprise for someone whose garnered a reputation for being INTELLIGENT AND COMPETITIVE. i heard the hostess say they were being targeted by @ ROBINHOOD because of THE RUMORS THAT SHE HAD BEEN USING HER POSITION WITHIN THE DA'S OFFICE TO HIDE HER BROTHERS INVOLVEMENT IN LARGE SCALE ORGANISED CRIME, FOLLOWING THE NEWS OF HIS ARREST. maybe it's just me but it doesn't align with the tabloids screaming about THE LINGERING SCENT OF HIGH END PERFUME TRAILING BEHIND HER, LOYALTY BEYOND COMPARE, UNTETHERING YOURSELF FROM EVERYTHING YOU RECOGNISE, THE BATTLE BETWEEN GIRLHOOD AND GODHOOD, STACKS OF PAPERS HIDING THE LAWYER BEHIND THE DESK, REFLECTIONS OF THE MOONLIGHT, LIGHTING A CANDLE IN THE DARKNESS, A SHARP TONGUE AND A SHARPER MIND, THE QUIET BUZZ OF MUSIC TO DULL THE THOUGHTS IN YOUR MIND, whenever their name comes up. make sure to deliver the drink to the POLITICIANS SUITE ( TABLE 3, DRINK A ) and let’s hope they're a good tipper. if not, i'll happily send in some stories of my own.
