Oops My System Crashed

Saw this at a pancake restaurant (how typical for me as a Dutchman) in The Netherlands. The screen is intended to show advertising for the restaurant, but the only screen that was open was this ‘WebVisionAlert’-window. It reads ‘Checking for new alarms’, ‘No new alarms’ and ‘2 records in database’, which repeats itself every few seconds. Funny to see there’s a dedicated ‘Reboot’-button on the desktop, though!

Even screens can suffer from Vertical Video Syndrome! This terminal is used to contact the front desk of companies in the largest building in The Netherlands, but a fatal error resulted in this sad looking screen. It took days, maybe even weeks, before the issue was found and this terminal was working as intended again.

Oof, it’s never fun to see a payment terminal out of order, espcially this one, as it’s the only one in the entire garage! I had a pre-paid ticket, but other’s weren’t so lucky.

Technically not a crash, but somehow the Windows taskbar popped up, revealing info on the system this information screen was running on. The train departure times are running on Java, and keen eyes will spot the Windows Genuine Advantage logo too. Could this have been an unlicensed copy?

This PC that hosts the photo printing service at a drug store in The Netherlands was stuck in a boot loop. This way we have no idea what OS it was running, but at least we get to see the details of the hardware inside.

Scanner used for self-checkout in a grocery store in The Netherlands. In most stores you could find 1 or 2 of these error screens on the wall where they were placed. They seem to have found the issue behind this, as I don’t see it happen as much as when this photo was taken (2014).
