Thinking about season 3 and how a large part of the Roy and Keeley break up was that Roy didn’t see how he fit in Keeley’s life anymore and he didn’t want to hold her back and get in the way of her career and aspirations
And thinking about how a big part of season 3 was Keeley moving on with Jack at the same time as we were seeing Roy figuring out what to do with his single person time by volunteering to help Jamie get even better and reach his career aspirations…
Also thinking about season 1 and how Jamie was portrayed as a big man baby who couldn’t do anything by himself and constantly needed Keeley around and to do things for him by the way Keeley made his appointments for him and picked him up and went with him and how he brought a backup date and was sleeping with someone else right after the break up with the whole what was I supposed to do shower alone thing
And about how in season 2 the issue we saw with Roy and Keeley was Roy enjoying spending every minute together and doing everything together while Keeley felt smothered by his constant presence
And in season 3 how Keeley’s two exes that were too codependent on her became codependent on each other and spent more time with each other than anyone else without there ever being a plot line or even throw away comment about them being sick of each other from spending so much time together (and instead even after they got in a literal fight and spent the entire night together it’s hey are you hungry let’s go get something to eat together)
this is all i got for valentines
My parents are on their fourth rewatch of Ted Lasso and I made a throwaway comment about Roy/Keeley/Jamie and my dad looked at me like I’d kicked the dog
tedependent you're so special to me. what do you mean trent's relationship with ted is a perfect example of a crush that absolutely cannot be acted upon. that his literal job is to dig into people's lives and judge their choices, and he falls for a man who gives people second chances and spends his life covering up his own problems with positivity. what do you mean trent liked ted from the first time they met in the press room, that ted knocked his walls down so profoundly it changed trent's whole career path and behaviour as a person over several years, to the point of quitting his job as a reporter. what do you mean ted made trent feel special and trent made ted feel normal. trent is the epitome of being a person who is "too much" and hides it behind seriousness until it all comes spilling out, and ted is the epitome of being a person who exudes muchness to hide the fact that he's filled up with grief. what do you mean you can see the moments when trent bares his muchness to ted - in the book feedback scene in season 3, trent exposes his whole self to ted and ted responds with vulnerability, but his brand of vulnerability is his depression and his sadness and his unsureness, and that feels like rejection to trent. what the fuck do you mean by that.

Dont get me wrong Ted Lasso is my favorite character ever and I would watch 12 hours of him just going about his day. That being said I loooove how he becomes less integral to the conflict resolution of each episode as the series goes on. I think thats handled SO beautifully. Something something the compounding effects of kindness. Because at the end of the show day
Its Beard that extends the olive branch to Nate
It's Keeley and Rebecca who are always there for each other
It's Roy that hugs Jamie after his Dad yells at him
It's Jamie that teaches Roy how to ride a bike
It's Trent Crimm that comforts Collin in Amsterdam
And so many other examples of people helping other people in ways that Ted cant/couldn't but he's still the reason the potential inside all of them was fully realized
To celebrate this night we found each other, let’s get lost ~
