Like don’t get me wrong, that was cool, especially the Halloween one, but oh man I just ate out of that person’s hand all believing in it and waiting for the patch until someone kindly told me it was faked.

There’s another one, too, that I can’t tell if it’s real or fake, but because I feel so lied to about the other thing, and I don’t have the time to do a pacifist run right now, I can’t find out if it’s real or not- concerning Sans all tied up near the Spider bake-sale.

The Grillby one I can tell is fake because… well.. the in-game-fight art is uh.. not consistent in style with the actual game, and Megalovania backwards is no.

 Nah it’s not rude at all so here you are a quick tutorial on how I do my bloody  joys.

Things to know:

I wouldn’t recommend looking up injuries reference because that’s nasty but if you aren’t afraid of real life gore, or like me who is determined to get shit down– then google is your friend. (I looked up for the first example one lmao)

Though looking up nosebleed isn’t so bad so that might give you some idea how blood would work

By all means, try other artist’s works as reference too if you’re too afraid of the two above. (trigger warning whatsoever)

Also know what you want to do with your blood:

For the first example: I want smeared blood so it’s mostly Paint brush to create the feeling she wiped her blood.

Second one is mostly splattered on him so I used Brush tool

Third is his own blood from damage but he hasn’t wiped it so it’s best for Brush + Pencil 3 combination

I’ve only do blood on skin, not other surfaces or splatted against the wall so that’s best to look up with Pixiv texture.

You’re welcome to use pure bright red for highlight but by all means, blood is not bright red. It’s a little bit duller and desaturated than that. Bruised blood is darker. Dried blood is brown-ish almost black.

I use different layer most of the time so I can erase the blood flow and fix it however I want, also it’s easy to change color that way.

So just do whatever you want to make it looks good to you.

i use overlay all the time to make colours more vibrant and to make areas warmer or cooler. good for colourful ambient light (like glowy magic stuff).

multiply is really good for establishing a light source very quickly!! play around with the hue to get shadows with cool colours. for more detailed work you can use two or three tones on a multiply layer for more dimension.

screen is something i only recently started using regularly! it’s really great if you have a very bright light source. you can also use screen and paint on the edges of a backlit character to make the lighting more intense. a good thing to know about screen layers is that the darker the colour you use, the less it lightens; using black on a screen layer leaves no effect on the colours underneath (the opposite is true for multiply layers!).
