"Pain will find you. Trouble and disagreement will arrive without summons. There's no choice in this. There's no effort required. You simply stand still and the galaxy will deliver a daily basket of fresh anxieties to your door without fail. But my solom... My solom seyna... The Elders know what I'm talking about, right? My hope... My hope... My hope is that you learn to reach past this constant cloud of sadness. Pleasure. Gaiety. Amusement. These are the hidden things. The music buried beneath all that noise... Joy. Joy! Joy... But joy has no wind at its back. Joy will not announce its arrival. You need to listen for it, and be mindful of how fleeting and delicate it can be. But search out these treasures. A moment of, of pleasing sensation, the memory of laughter and good company, the comfort of a fine meal. And for me... For me, right now, it's the smile that I can't hide as I see these two young people sharing our greatest tradition. Sagrona."

Mainly right now from the final episode in s1, when Mon confronts him about gambling and suggests he's been spending her money doing it. (The missing money has actually gone to the Rebellion and she's setting this up knowing that her driver is spying on her, but Perrin doesn't know that.)
When I was first watching s1 I'd guessed at something broadly like this happening with Perrin: he'd do something bad that Mon would manage to use to her advantage against him. But this scene was a lot more uncomfortable to watch than the one I thought I'd get because what she actually does is uses something he hasn't done against him, and while this works for its intended purpose as far as she knows she looks a long way from happy to have done it.
It is also a much better and scene than the one I thought I was getting, but then most Perrin developments ended up like that for me. (I thought he was going to be used to represent of all the oppressive Chandrilan traditions that are smothering Mon, but she's the one in their relationship with the higher status and influential job and family wealth, not him; there's that scene in s1 where Mon and Vel are discussing Leida doing all the Chandrilan traditionalist stuff and Vel immediately assumes it's Perrin's influence but Mon says no, he's "surprisingly open-minded", it's all Leida.)
I also thought initially he was pro-Imperial, but he's not, really; he doesn't seem to have any political affiliations or leanings at all any more although she says he was once "the academy firebrand" and he isn't happy she's brought it up:
Right after this they go back to talking about what Mon's doing at the party, which is trying to gather votes against the new sentencing legislation. Tay says that the legislation is having an effect (which we know because the storyline's cut with Cassian getting sent to the prison on Narkina due to that same legislation). All Perrin says about it is "the rebels should have thought that over before blowing up Aldhani" before leaving them to it, and so he doesn't sound like he particularly cares, but he's also hit on the same point Mon brings up with Luthen about Aldhani not long before - "Do you realise what you've set in motion? People will suffer!" - and not long after this, one of the Senators whose votes Mon is after turns up to talk to her having been steered her way by Perrin.
I don't think Perrin is secretly pro-Rebellion here, or that he cares about the sentencing directive more than he's letting on, but I do think that what initially looks like it's going to be Tay the principled rebel vs. Perrin the disinterested hedonist isn't even that simple at the start.
Back to the car scene: to me it makes Perrin more interesting than he'd be in a scene where he's being confronted over something he has done, because this way you get to see his reaction - anger at Mon for not believing him wrapped up with warning her that someone's lying to her and using him to do it (and he's correct, he just doesn't suspect her).
But it makes Mon more interesting, too! There wouldn't be much of a moral compromise needed in blaming Perrin for something he'd genuinely done; the decision she's making in blaming him for this is a tougher one, and it's obvious she feels that. And that the subject of Perrin and gambling is so personal as well, that this is something they both acknowledge he's done before in a way that caused her significant... pain? difficulty? she uses the word 'shamed' which makes it a lot more emotionally loaded than just losing money; that he promised he wouldn't do it again, and full-on shouts this time that he's "kept my promise!"; that all this matters to Mon; and that this is still a sacrifice she's prepared to make for the greater cause.
Anyway, all this is so much more interesting to me than an equivalent scene where Perrin actually hadn't kept that promise, or hadn't made it in the first place, or Mon hadn't cared that he had. I am very glad the writers did not go down the easier and duller route and gave us this instead.
some andor sketch , i was very inspired by @chandrilamistress fic with mon/luthen set in bridergton AU! go and check her fics they are amazing . the second sketch are made with copic color pencils .

i fear i love glinda and fiyero's doomed lavender marriage slay. the whole cornfield scene was just too good from when he points the gun at her to way she walks until she's right in front of him with the barrel directly on her forehead and his whole arm is trembling and both of them have tears in their eyes and he drops his hand and the guards shove him to the ground and glinda begs for them to stop and she goes "he just loves her" like she understands that feeling all too well herself. ari and jonny outsold
I would love if Elphaba held Fiyero accountable for his actions with working for the Wizard (being Captain of the Gale Force) the way she does with Glinda but I have a feeling that won't happen in For Good.
I want him to be held accountable mostly because it genuinely annoys me that he's not held accountable for literally being part of the military group that captures and imprisons Animals. I don't care that he's doing it under the guise of finding Elphaba. He chose to join the Gale Force after watching what they did to Dillamond.
It hasn't been confirmed, I hope the movie does, but there's some implication that he was working against the Wizard in secret; if this the case he doesn't really have anything to be held accountable for
Can you cite the source of this implication? Because even in the book, we watch him rise the ranks and become the CAPTAIN of the Gale Force. He wouldn't be promoted to such a title without being "good" at his job (of imprisoning Animals) so what work was he doing in secret?
Okay to be fair, I know we might be reading things that aren't there in the text; but given how Fiyero scolds Glinda for her role in spreading propaganda, and how quickly he drops everything to join Elphaba, which implies joining her movement, I don't think we're conjuring things out of thin air
He literally does not join Elphaba's movement, that's not implied in the musical or the book. He didn't "drop everything" he willingly joined the Gale Force and worked up through the ranks to become captain. He is very much complicit in the Wizard's propaganda and the harm against Animals.
Glinda literally points out to Fiyero close to TEARS that Elphaba doesn't want to be found, and Fiyero is the one looking for her, while Glinda is waving and living her prop & ganda themed life...?
But here's a source, confirmed by Jonathan Bailey. And don't tell me actor interviews don't count, casue that's where most of the things about Glinda's sexuality comes from, and we accept that as canon as well.
Isnt JB pointing out here that Fiyero isnt doing anything in secret? i mean- "passively" doesnt sound like the word i'd use for someone who is actively trying to help. "Passively" sounds like he isn't doing anything to obstruct the Wizard.
I think Fiyero is a good guy with good intentions, but his personal dislike of the regime and his feelings on the matter shouldn't automatically exclude his passivity. If Elphaba hadn't come...would he have just married Glinda and kept on cringing but turning away? I don't think he should be punished or anything, but it would be nice to maybe see a scene where he addresses his lack of initiation and maybe asks forgiveness (even if only for Elphaba to quickly reassure him).
Something to show he feels badly for standing by even though it got him what he wanted: Elphaba.
I mean, Fiyero admittedly has a LOT of power. He's a prince with a castle established to be www safe, he's very well known and beloved, he's been in several schools and people know him. He's not a powerless nobody. Popularity and a position in power-- that's essentially what Glinda has at the end but Fiyero has it the whole time. Yet he doesnt use that position to influence anyone. Instead, he joins the Wizard's side willingly to....well, it seems according to JB, simply to "get the girl" so to speak.
Glinda is objectively worse, sure. But why can't they both feel bad and both get acknowledged for their mistakes? An act doesn't need to have been done with ill intent to still be a poor decision.
