i think when you revisit childhood media as an adult you SHOULD see it in a different light. doesn’t have to be as black and white as labeling something bad or good. but it should be different. youre not the same person you were then. you have different opinions, different priorities. doesn’t mean you have to dislike it. childhood nostalgia is fine and it’s fun to indulge in too! but it’s also comforting to know that youve grown and changed since you were a literal kid? like sometimes I revisit books I LOVED when I was like 13 expecting to still love them today and am surprised to find I see them in a completely different light. things that I used to think were cute/fun/okay as a kid are things that I reread and label as shit i would NEVER let fly as an adult. and that’s GOOD! like it’s interesting to have a sort of relationship with a piece of media that changes overtime. doesn’t mean that piece of media is ruined. it’s almost...kind of a tangible evolution of your growth in a way. like it’s comforting to know that I’ve grown since I was 10, since I was 13, since I was 16. and in a couple years I’m probably gonna look back at myself today and have completely different feelings for the things I like. doesn’t mean i was wrong or bad. it’s just growing up
