Oh yes, when it comes to Macsummers I've discussed it all and that includes Sean's catholic guilt if Macsummers ever were to be canon in any way. Talking about the catholic guilt of a murdering thief is very interesting because it's definitely possible that someone of his occupation would find their guilt comes from their sexuality instead of the people they've murdered (though Sean does say killing innocents/who he decides is innocent gives him a nasty feeling inside). It might not make sense, but it's very possible.

So yeah, I think if Macsummers were to happen, they both would go through stages of repressing it, dealing with guilt and shame and embarrassment. I think it would be similar to Charthur or any other mlm ship in the fandom, they would have a huge hurdle of shame and guilt to get over.

Additionally, Sean's guilt might not even come from being catholic itself, but from his father. He has such an impact on Sean's life, even in his death, that I think Sean would worry, and does worry, about what his da would think of his life and decisions. In canon, I bet he represses and ignores this as best he can, but if he ever were to be confronted with his sexuality in this Macsummers universe, I doubt he could keep the shame and guilt of what his father might say repressed. It would be on his mind more often than not.

This is the exactly same with Lenny in my opinion, repressed shame and worry of what his dead family, dead father, would think of his life and decisions that would absolutely explode out of him if Macsummers ever were to happen. Our boys have one big hurdle (or hundreds of small one) to get over before they can get to the fluff, but we believe in them.

i hate talking to someone about real things a character said and did, then they start using something i’ve never even heard of to defend a character, or explain something about them, then i find out they made it up. look, i adore headcanons, but that’s what they are by definition. something made up by the fans. not canon.

in my opinion, it’s wasted potential to neglect all seven of the interactions sean and lenny had together when discussing sean’s character. these interactions show sean’s views on politics, they show both of their youth as they pick on bill together twice, they tell us sean’s view on respecting the dead, they literally show us that sean’s illiterate and not willing to learn to read but lenny wants to try and teach him anyway, refusing to give up on him. the fact that sean is illiterate is a big part of his character, and it came from his interactions with lenny. i am genuinely convinced that if people took apart these interactions instead of the constant focus this fandom gives to the same three romantic interactions he had with karen, everyone would have a better understanding of sean. they’d find out things about him they never knew.

sean and karen’s dialogue, compared to sean and lenny’s, tells us strikingly little about sean. yet this fandom has pulled their interactions apart over and over, given them infinite focus, acted like sean was closest with her when it’s just not true, and have absolutely sidelined lenny summers. in every post about sean’s character, karen will always be there instead of lenny, as if those seven interactions, each representing something new about them both, never happened. it is frustrating.
