"How do Rust’s clothes show the character’s evolution?" "Finally in 2012, we know Rust was working at a bar in a small town, no need for anything to tell the story. I gave him the tools, he was Rust, we didn’t need to tell a story in his clothes. We needed to portray quickly that he was down and out. Again it was almost like a uniform, utilitarian wardrobe so to speak. It was functional for what he did, nothing more.
