Dick knows something happened during the showdown between Batman and Red Hood. It's obvious in the way Bruce has done nothing but brood in the cave since he returned that night. Not that that in and of itself is unusual, but combined with the sudden lack of violence from the Crime Lord it indicates that something must have occurred between the two.

When Dick asked B about it, he had been met with denial. Dick almost went off at the man for that. He wanted to scream at him to just let him in just once goddamnit. But he held himself back.

Instead, he convinced the older man to take a break, to go upstairs to eat some food and get some rest. It took time, effort, and Alfred, but he managed to get him to listen. Which led Dick to where he is now, sitting in front of the Batcomputer and pulling up the file Bruce keeps on Red Hood.

Dick expected to be down here a while, decrypting hidden files and searching through pages of information and hours of cowl footage just to find anything about what happened that night. Instead, he is immediately met with his answer.

Alias: Red Hood Name: [Awaiting DNA Confirmation] Designation: Previously Unpresented. Omega as of XX-XX-XXXX

Dick freezes, trying to make sense of what he's seeing. Last Dick knew, the designation of Red Hood was unknown, with a high likelihood of being alpha. But if this document is to believed… Red Hood presented as Omega only days ago. The same day as the confrontation between him and Batman.

It doesn't make sense to Dick. This whole time, the Bats have been under the assumption that Red Hood is at least in his thirties. He can't possibly be younger than twenty-five. If he's only just presenting now…

He's moving before he can even register it. He doesn't have any plans, any ideas of how to go about this. All he knows is that he needs to find Red Hood, and he needs to help him through his presentation.

It takes Dick most of the night to track down Red Hood. The Bats had narrowed down some possible safehouses for the man, and Dick managed to narrow them down even further based on things like security and what would be most comfortable for spending one's heat. In the end, Dick had three safehouses to search through.

He finds the man in the second one.

The man he sees inside of the apartment is young. No, not man. The pup. Because even just seeing him from the back at this distance, Dick can tell he's barely older than eighteen. But he's not soothed enough to stop himself from disabling the security in the window and sliding into the apartment.

Red Hood doesn't react to his entrance. Honestly, Dick's not even sure he notices him. He's too busy bustling around the one room apartment, grabbing blankets and pillows and throwing them onto the mattress that sits on the ground. He stops only to throw his sweat soaked shirt onto the pile before continuing his quest to create a nest with what meager supplies he has. His pants are still on, thankfully, but that means his guns are still holstered in place as well.

Dick is about to say something, let the omega know he's there before he scares him too much, but he's stopped by the scent that fills the air. Dick can't bring himself to answer, too busy taking in every detail he can of his younger brother. "Answer me, damnit." Jason yells, bringing Dick's attention back to his face and his eyes. "Did Bruce send you? Did he tell you how badly I failed, and you decided to rub it in my face?"

"What?" Dick shakes his head to get himself to focus on the conversation at hand instead of the differences between the man before him and the pup of his memories. "No! Bruce didn't tell me anything. I saw his files on you and I just…"

"You just what?"

"I saw Red Hood presented as omega and wanted to help him."

Jason lets out a deep snarl and Dick barely has time to dodge as the other comes barreling towards him. He blocks another hit as Jason twirls around to attack him once more. Dick grabs Jason's wrist as he goes to throw a punch at his face.

"What the fuck, Jay?" Dick yells at the omega, struggling to keep him in place as Jason thrashes his arms around.

"All you alphas are the same," Jason screams, still trying to escape Dick's hold. Dick has to wrestle the man to the floor and pin his arms behind his back to prevent him from getting out and attacking Dick once more. "Thinking an omega being in heat is automatic permission to shove your knot in them."

Dick yelps as Jason tries to jerk out of his hold. "No, Jay! It's not like that!"

"Oh really?" Jason's thrashing continues, despite him likely knowing how improbable it is that he can break out from under Dick. "What else could you possibly mean by 'helping out' while I'm in heat?"

And yeah, Dick can see how Jason could've reached that conclusion. Still, it hurts to think his Little Wing would think so low of him as to assume he would rape an omega in heat.

"I thought Hood was a lot older than you are, Jay. Someone presenting at that age could have serious medical issues, and anything could've gone wrong. I never once thought to take advantage like that."

Jason doesn't answer right away, and it leaves them in an awkward silence. Dick is still pinning Jason, too afraid of what the omega will do if he frees him now.

The scent of anger in the air still hasn't gone away, but Dick realizes with a start that the scent of heat has come back full swing, all traces of milk and preheat gone completely now. Jason starts wiggling in his grasp again, although this time Dick can tell it's not all him trying to escape.

Dick hears Jason try to stifle a whine, and decides to break their silence. "Jay?"
