In which Ilya accidentally calls himself Shane's future husband in the middle of the Bears locker room. Worse still, they're not even dating yet.

Pike was looking at him expectantly, with something that seemed terribly close to knowing. “Rose is here right now.” Ilya settled on, weakly. His shoulders drew in unconsciously, protecting him from a blow that never came. And maybe it was selfish of him, wanting Pike to know that it was not his fault. That maybe, he was not as much of an asshole as Pike believed him to be. His accent was thick as he clarified, “He does not…want anything with Lily.” or: Ilya is struggling post tuna-meltdown. Then Shane gets hit, and suddenly everyone is asking questions Ilya can't answer.

He hits send with shaking hands, letting the phone drop onto the bed beside him. Ilya knows better than to expect a response. Even if he hadn’t all but pushed Shane out of the room, he had ignored him for six months. He hadn’t done a single thing to try to make up for that. But it’s on the record now.
