And pav i guess (i still dk how to draw him)
Łęcka miała 25 lat a Wokulski 46.

i am used to narratives where one of the characters is a black hole in the sense that everyone is deformed by their proximity and gravitates towards them because they have this energy(tm) they put at play to re-create the world according to their biddings and then you have Demons where you have a character who is exactly like that. except there's no bigger scheme at play. there's NOTHING inside him. Stavrogin is empty through and through. he fills others with the philosophies he toyed with and yet couldn't make his and then leaves them to carry their new burden for him. his quietest desperation is the fact there's literally nothing he can hold onto because everything is the same for him. the fascination he has for evil -and what brought him to do what he did to that young girl, driving her to suicide- is the sudden impulse to be filled with something -anything- that, eventually, leaves him empty. i went into the book expecting him to be a certain thing and then he wasn't and looking back that's EXACTLY what the other characters thought as well: they all saw in Stavrogin what they wanted to see over and over again and what he wanted them to see but behind that? there's nothing. literally nothing. it's not even a wearing a mask for so long that you don't remember what's underneath it's just. void.
Нигилистические вайбы или революционный дуэт.
Здесь их будет мало, т.к. я очень давно в фд Бесов, возможно старые арты (эти тоже) буду выкладывать

dropped from the moon, as sensible people here say
I need to show you guys the 1968 Heron Books edition of Demons (The Possessed) by Dostoevsky! It is divided into two volumes and contains these cool gesture drawing ink illustrations by Philippe Jullian! It was only $30ish for both of them on Etsy and it was such a steal!!!!!!!!
We start off with this cool sketch of Dostoevsky in the front. Then we get my favorite: Stepan and Varvara yapping
Then we have all these bangers. There are a surprising amount of illustrations! Seeing as I didn't know there were any at all, I was very pleasantly surprised to find all of these:
A w maju Zwykłem jeździć, szanowni panowie, Na przedniej platformie tramwaju!
I've had this spread for a very long time, so I decided to share it with you!
Pyotr Verkhovensky, Nikolai Stavrogin and Alexey Kirillov from "Demons" by Dostoevsky
Translation:
«He thinks he's telling me to. He stands behind me and trembles, afraid that I won't finish. And I'm writing freedom. I'll finish it now, and I'll become a god. And he is... He would stay down here with his fear. Let him dictate. I don't care. There will be silence soon.» A. N. Kirillov
« – Let's go, let's go, Nikolai Vsevolodovich; now we're all alone, so let's go hand in hand!»

And a happy belated death day to Vsevolod Stavrogin, suspiciously Napoleon shaped father of Nikolai Stavrogin. You may have had a small role in the book, but it was with your historically French presence that an adequate amount of ambience was given to Stavrogin's daemonic self will and moral decay, and for that, I cannot thank you enough.
