i finished the idiot and i just have to say. the back cover of my edition claims the final scene is "one of the most powerful in all of world literature" to which i was like wow... you guys are setting the bar really high.... how could this possibly end to warrant such praise... then i read the ending and my eyeballs popped out of their sockets in amazement. even more mind-bogglingly because i spoiled the ending for myself and it still made my jaw drop. i think its one of my all time favorite endings now...

both raskolnikov and myshkin suffer from princess stuck in tower but in markedly different ways and i think thats such a beautiful thing
