You can inexpensively manufacture diamonds that are indistinguishable from, or in some cases even superior to, naturally occurring diamonds.  There is literally no way anyone that isn’t in a laboratory exposing the things to spectroscopy or X-rays or what have you could ever tell that any particular diamond was made in a lab or mined out of the ground.  The diamond industry insists that these manufactured diamonds, which I remind you are 100% indistinguishable from ‘natural’ diamonds, are somehow less valuable than naturally formed diamonds for reasons they cannot adequately explain beyond “because we said so”.

Pretty sure the most succinct answer they can give for why man-made diamonds aren’t as good is because they dont’ have naturally-occurring impurities that mined diamonds will have.
