Mission: Daesang at MAMA!

THE BASICS

Stray kids is nominated for six(!) Daesangs (i.e. major awards) at MAMA this year. However, there is only one that we can really contribute to: Worldwide Icon of the Year, which is 100% fan voting. In the post below, I’ll go through the basics of how you can vote for Stray Kids.

I'm SO IMPRESSED that you're keeping up with it! I know it takes a while to update for good reason, but wow I was just so taken aback that there were new chapters. Tfw you fall into kpop as a way to feel alive again in the face of a never-ending pandemic

#I am falling hard and I love it but #in hindsight this is probably why I crash so hard every evening #and feel so exhausted when I stop thinking about kpop #and start thinking about how I’ve lost almost two years to this thing

Today there were anti-vaccine protests in my neighbourhood, and the amount of anger I feel towards them and this situation and the inexhaustible length of the pandemic is eating me up worse than usual. I lost a family member directly to this disease in 2020, and I was unable to spend time with another dying family member who passed this summer because of the lockdowns. I am so tired and bitter and my memory is jagged, and the way they put everyone at risk will never not be personal

#I live in a hotspot so ofc this will drive up covid cases #the whole thing is a mess

The good news I mentioned a couple weeks ago has been genuinely good news and I’m so glad that it came, but it also fundamentally shifted my schedule and my free time and that new schedule + all my previously existing tasks leaves me tired in a way that is hard to articulate

#I’m trying to cut back on my additional tasks so I can prioritize better #but it’s going to take time to filter them all out #and in the meantime I’m chugging an unhealthy amount of coffee to compensate #personal

Hi Shi!! 👋🏽 Do you have any tips for someone who is just starting to think seriously about writing well into their 20s?

If I had to narrow it down, my best advice is to find a writers group with people you like/trust/get along with, who are all working towards similar goals. So if your main desire is to write fanfic, look for a fanfic group; if it’s to publish an original novel, or to write comics, aim for that too!

Writing can be a solitary activity, and you can learn skills on your own, ofc, but having other people to bounce ideas off of, talk about industry events, and share tips + resources is frankly invaluable. It’ll help you grow so much quicker. The group doesn’t have to be very big, either; even just 3-4 ppl can make a difference, and it can be a group you form with friends too.
