Hi there! Shouldāve probs clarified what I meant by that: I originally watched Murdoch obsessively when I was younger (like 12ish) and stopped watching the show after season 8, less so that it was turning bad and more that my fixation on it was waning and I wanted to put my attention towards other things!
I decided to come back to the show earlier this year, and in my pinned I put in the disclaimer that I originally stopped watching after season 8 as a warning for people who wanted to discuss the show with me on here. I donāt like getting spoiled on things sometimes so it was just a heads up on where Iām at! Should probs update it now that Iām WELL past season 8 in my watchthrough lol.
THAT BEING SAIDā¦I will be honest on here and say that I feel the show has been taking a noticeable dip in quality for later seasons, but I wouldnāt say itās a severe dip after season 8. More like season 12 or 13. I would go more in depth on this but I am sleepy lol. Hope that cleared things up!

Just finished season 13ā¦so many characters assassinations in one season oh dear.
Love jilliam I donāt think Iāll ever stop loving them but I kinda despise the way their ideological conflicts have been written in later seasons. Especially since it centres around some completely contrived drama that ALWAYS ends with āwe may irreconcilably disagree with each other for religious reasons but we will still love each other regardless and will not change anything!ā And itās so. Annoying lmao.
I guess it makes me annoyed since a lot of Jilliamās interactions in early seasons were defined by them constantly challenging each others beliefs, Julia especially re: the first episode the show talks abt gay people. Julia demanded that Murdoch move past his prejudice in dealing with the case and he did!! But now thatā¦doesnāt really happen? A bit depressing imo
it's so funny how every mm character has been on this show for 20 years so they've gone through every personal drama imaginable already and have been pretty happy and settled for years now but watts has only been here for 10 so he's perpetually in the torment nexus while everyone else is like, having christmas dinner together while married with kids
