morgandougllasâ:
âMaybe.â Morgan said, feeling angry that she decided to go to a public place and not one that was run in the territory of her syndicate, but unfortunately the water kept her calm and what were the chances sheâd see a member of the fire here? theyâll be that crazy to do so, youâd think. The fact that Marlo had the balls to come to her knowing they were surrounded by water meant she had big balls, but at the same time stupid as hell. âLeave.â
The last thing Morgan needed to show any weakness to someone who she hated and wished death upon. The water syndicate leader was sure that underneath her sunglasses her eyes were glassy, maybe even red and thereâs no way in hell anyone is gonna find out about it. âThere are plenty of other benches.â She added when Marlo didnât do a single thing in order to move from her face.
Of course, Morgan could drown her. It could be so easy, the sea all around them was waiting for her one command and yet she was so tired, all she wanted was quiet day to regain her strength and the last thing she wanted is to get mad, even if Marloâs offer of the join was tempting. âYou do realize where we are, right? You must have a death wish if youâre still talking to me.â
Yikes. It was definitely time to flip the switch, wasnât it? Marloâs brows furrowed as she tried to offer Morgan a charmed smileâsheâd be lying if she said she wasnât feeling threatened, but sheâd also be lying if she said she didnât probably have it on lock. Itâd be very easy for Marlo to take Morganâs words to heart and get deeply offended, like a true Leo would, retaliate with a roar that would shake the womanâs core. But she didnât. She was more than proficiently trained in combat, and yeah, she may not have had some sort of physical power to give her a fighting boost, she was strong and quick, tiny yet mighty. It just wasnât worth the fight though; Morgan was tired, Marlo was tired, everyone was tired and not to mention, extremely worried.
âIâm not here as your enemy, Morgan.â She said, simply. And it was true, she wasnât. If Blaine, or maybe even Helaine, were to hear her say that, itâd probably be an uproar but it didnât make it any less true.
Marlo genuinely didnât believe that Morgan had anything to do with the Beastâs slaying. Of course, while the Fire Syndicate was blowing steam from their ears and pointing fingers as they spew out heated accusations, Lo was actually thinking. She tended to be one of the more level-headed of the Flames, and while she often saw that as a virtue for syndicate, the same quality could be twisted to turn Marlo into a traitor. She didnât think it was Morgan, she didnât think it was any of the other syndicates, if she were speaking truthfully. After discussing the tragic events of the gala with her father and brothers, Marlo concluded that the whole thing sounded a little too much like history repeating itself...
âYes, but see this bench has a wrongfully accused leader of the quote-unquote enemy syndicate while the others donât.â She said, with a slight cock of her head, hoping that her words might intrigue the Viper.  âI understand that you hate us, and that maybe some of us hate you too, but weâre talking a war if this doesnât get settled.â Marloâs eyes fell to the ground as she spoke, imagining the city sheâd been born and raised in and grew up to preserve all in ruin. It was an unpleasant thought. âWeâre talking innocent lives getting lost, a death wish for all sides when weââ An upturned palm bounced back and forth between the both of them, âboth know you didnât have anything to do with it.â
Despite the threats, despite the refusal of her offer, Marlo slowly motioned to sit next to the woman, dark eyes trained on the blonde the entire time.  âMaybe I do have a death wish.â She drawled, lifting the joint to her lips as she fumbled around in her pocket for a lighter. When she finally found it and lit the tip of the joint, she took a deep pullâshit, it may very well be her last hit ever.  âBut if I die and you leave here with just an ounce more perspective on the situation, then I guess itâd be worth it.â Â
Marlo extended her hand to the blonde, the joint in between her thumb and middle finger up for grabs.
