Maggie had decided to take Friday off from Twitch streaming and do something for herself. She absolutely loved roller skating, from the moment she had learned how when she was 11 years old to now, at the age of 35. She’d gotten pretty good over the years and it was also a fun form of exercise and a way to relax. Sometimes, going to the skate rink with her Moxie skates in hand was the perfect medicine for a long week of work. It was a chance to have a little fun and meet new people. Of course, she had her phone out, taking little videos for her Instagram every once in a while but for the most part it stayed in her pocket as she skated, people watched, and let her hips move to the music.
It was now that part of the evening where they had the couples skate so she promptly moved off the floor and went to grab some water to hydrate. She went back to lean over the barrier to watch everyone, sipping her water and rolling her eyes. “The whole ‘couples skate’ segment is so over done. Not everyone is with somebody. Its also kind of lame,” she smirked, the words falling from her lips, thinking out loud. She looked to the person nearest to her. “Don’t you think?”

Ava was almost a pro at roller skating at her grown age. A Winehouse tradition, in fact. Her and her father, Jay, had gone every Friday after school to Skateland. It ended once Jay chose alcohol and drugs over fatherhood. She would never take away his efforts of being a single father for her as she grew up, though. He was her rock and she was a daddy’s girl but she couldn’t fight for that position anymore. Jay let his demons take over and ever since, Ava’s life had never been the same. She had to fend for herself.
Ironically, skating was still her favorite therapy when it came to letting go of her thoughts. Her aunt had invited her but had to check out early since her husband had gotten home for dinner. Unlike Ava, she didn’t have anyone to go home to and feed– yet. As she skated off the floor when the mentioned the couples skate, she glided towards the water station. Looking back towards the couples as the brunette spoke, she nodded as she huffed. “Yeah, some of us are single ladies over here,” she said bringing the cup to her lips. “It’s lame. But I’m just saying that because I’m a lonely hag.”
