Eudora’s expression softened at Diego’s statement. They had been bringing up brief childhood details. Of course, she was sharing much longer stories than Diego, but that was expected. It was clear that he had not been given a typical upbringing. But she hadn’t expected him to make such a comment. “…Can I ask why?” She asked softly, hesitant and afraid to pry at a past he’d rather leave secure.

for diego hargreeves, and really, for the hargreeves children, it had been one hell of a week. reginald had died, five had come back from the future with an ominous prediction, and allison had nearly died. now, now not only was the world ending, but number seven, the normal one of the bunch was not so normal after all, and it was all a lot to process. he was trying to do just that when his sister approached him with the note, and he switched gears. it was no secret that he was uncomfortable with leaving vana inside the room. it reminded him of their childhood there, of everything they’d gone through, and he wanted to help her the way he wished someone would have helped them, so the answer was clear. “yes.” he replied, but not a moment later he added “ but if we get caught, and luther get’s pissy, it’s all on you, got it?” 

❝I’m BORED.❞ Slumping in the passenger seat, Faye huffed rather LOUDLY. The police scanner had been either SILENT or small insignificant check ins for FOREVER now, but yet here they sat. Ever VIGILANT it seemed. Converse clad feet were raised up from the floor of the car and perched themselves onto the dashboard without ASKING if it were okay and her head LULLED to the side, giving him an expectant look. ❝How LONG are you gonna sit out here? You said this was FUN.❞

“I’m sorry.” The words weren’t offered sincerely, and if Diego’s tone hadn’t been enough to make that clear, the eye roll that accompanied them should have done the trick. Sitting back in his chair, listening to the static of the radio, waiting for something more than a minor fender bender to come across the scanner, he knew just how tedious it could be to sit and wait, but that didn’t mean he wanted to be reminded of it.  “Did you have something better to do at -” A quick glance to the red digits on the car clock, and then he finishes with “- three am?”
