of frost & fairies

Bella wanted to work out some new routines for her classes and decided that she would try to get out of her own apartment to do it. While it might not get her talking to people, it at least got her out of the house. Walking into the cafe, she noticed that the seats were limited, so she tried to see if she might be able to share with someone. “Hi, um,” She paused a moment. “Is it okay if I share your table? Place is pretty packed and I figured since it was bigger, we might both be able to use it?”

“Um, excuse me.” Erik cleared his throat and softly spoke to the person, polite despite the awkward circumstances. After all, he didn’t know this girl, however seeing the teens go through her purse behind her back, he knew something had been up. And he had been right. Amongst all these crowds of townspeople, some of the local pranksters had believed it would be good idea to take the lady’s wallet. He luckily had found them and managed to convince them to stop. Now returning the wallet, he looked at the girl who it had orignally belonged to. “I think you dropped this, ma’am.” He really didn’t want to bring up the kids as there was no need for it. They were just kids, they can make plenty of mistakes still.

“Ice water– that’s perfect actually,” she nodded, not really feeling like any of the sugary or alcoholic drinks would do the trick in this heat. As the two made their way over Ophelia chuckled, “I know you’re joking but that’s not a terrible idea. It really is that hot out today.”

Perhaps she was joking at first, but with the encouragement ( most likely in jest )  from her roommate, Peri couldn’t help herself. The moment they’d reached the beverage coolers, she fished an extra water bottle out specifically to unscrew and pour over her head. “ No peer pressure, but this feels amazing. ”

Elle still felt apprehensive and out of place at these sort of events, it was overwhelming to be around so many people. She was just thankful she had her roommates around, they were her safety net right now. She spotted Peri and walked over with two ice cream cones and handed her one. “It’s so hot out, I thought this might cool us down,” she smiled. “I hope you don’t mind me sticking with you, I really don’t know most people here.”

“As I said before, I’m sorry!” Peter rolled his eyes, not understanding the big deal in all this at all as the supervisor continued to call him out on being so useless when it came to working at the grill station. But how was Peter supposed to know how to cook burgers? He only volunteered to avoid the station’s threats of juvie when one of his pranks had gotten out of hand. Though this person’s words meant nothing to him as he softly smiled with a shrug. “I thought once it was black like that, it was perfect. Isn’t charred supposed to kind of be a theme for barbeques?”

“I may or may not feel like I’m frying alive in this heat, but at least the atmosphere was worth leaving the flat, right?” Ophelia mused with a soft laugh, looking in Peri’s direction. “Should we get something to drink first?”

Peri slipped into the shared apartment a bit later than usual, gently discarding her shoes by the door. When she turned towards the living room to discover she wasn’t the only one awake, Peri let out a yelp. “ Oh, gosh, sorry ! Did I wake you up ? I didn’t mean to be so noisy opening the door, but the porch light is busted again and I couldn’t see my keys. ”

Pietro shook his head, “Yeah, wasn’t our best idea,” He admitted, “I could ask my dad to carve them?” He suggested, “He’s pretty good at signs. He made this one for my bedroom door when I was a kid, carved trees around the edges and a few forest creatures too. I mean, obviously that was only when I was a child but the sign is still around somewhere just not on my door and…” He exhaled, “I’m rambling again, aren’t I? I’ll ask him, he probably won’t ask for that much either.”

stopping in front of the diner she crossed her arms around her chest and hummed in thought. “I really want bother cherry and peach pie. and I’m thinking I could get both. but lemon pie sounds good too. should I just get both, all three, none at all, decisions, decisions.”

“Is this yours?” Fred called out as he picked up the item from the floor, holding up for the other to see. “Wouldn’t want to lose it.”

“Yeah, yeah, I’m okay,” Pietro said with a smile, “You know me, very clumsy and all that,” He moved to take the box, “Let me help you with that!” He put the box on the counter, “Umm… we might do. I think there might be one or two on one of the back shelves,” He paused, “Do you think we should try and make this shop more organised? Like maybe put things by category and have signs up? I know people are prone to putting things back wherever they like but it might help us a little.”

“- look, just send them some complimentary muffins and some extra pillows and I’ll deal with the rest when I get back, okay? Bye.” Sally ended the call, but as she was putting her phone back into her pocket her elbow knocked over her coffee cup sending liquid everywhere. “Shit. Fuck. I mean… fudge- I’m sorry.” She apologised to the person standing beside her, “Did I catch you?”

“Well there are probably other fruits that have incredible qualities, I mean there are super-fruits and all, but from what I’ve read so far, banana’s are the only one’s to hold chemicals to make people happy.” Benji explained to the other, raising one eyebrow at her slightly when her laughing continued, not sure if she was a fan of the facts he was spouting or whether she was just amused by him. “If it makes you feel any better, I think you’re more subtle then what I am-” He chuckled, marking his place in his book before passing it over to the other to inspect. “I am, though I don’t think there is a botany book I’ve came across and not enjoyed.”

Pietro wasn’t really focusing. Sitting behind the counter of the shop, he had a Red Vine dangling from his mouth as he looked around the shop at all the various antiques. He didn’t even hear the bell above the door when someone entered. When he noticed the person, he jumped and fell off his seat, “Whoa, hey sorry, I didn’t see you there,” He said as he stood up with the help of the counter,  “Is there anything in particular you’re looking for?”
