INDEFINITE HIATUS

Considering the fact that the FFX rpc has since been... well. Dead. I've made an aerith blog, and I've been having a really great time writing with her. I'll be putting Yuna on an indefinite hiatus. Muse has been so low for her as of late, and I'm struggling to keep her voice in my head.

It had taken one minute of him not paying attention, dropping his guard like they were back in Spira, where no one really knew him, and that was all it took for fucking Trabia's team to get the drop on him.

All he wanted to do was show Yuna somewhere new, somewhere not the sprawling sandy deserts of Centra. Trabia had seemed safe. He hadn't even taken her to the capitol city, nowhere near T. Garden.

Just somewhere different, somewhere nice. With some hot springs, and a cozy little motel room for a few days. Somewhere to keep him from going stir-crazy at the orphanage.

Cid had assured him that Garden wouldn't prosecute him without a fair trial. But that didn't apply to anyone else.

He should have been paying more attention.

Someone circles behind him, grabs his head, smashes it forward into the metal table, fast enough and hard enough that it pulls a shout from him, and a riot of pain ringing through his skull. He bites his tongue; the salty taste of blood rushes into his mouth.

When they pull him back by the hair, the room spins. Fantastic.

Seifer spits a mouthful of red on the concrete floor, and sneers at the guy doing the bulk of the work.

"That all you got?"

It's probably not the smartest idea he's ever had, antagonizing his captors while Yuna is also in their custody. But, god, at least if this had been Trabia Garden, he would have gotten an interrogator who knew what they were doing.

And no one ever said he was smart.

"I want a lawyer."

Not that he thinks any of them will listen to that demand, as someone reaches up, flicking on a television mounted overhead. Maybe he's lucky-- maybe he'll get the soundtrack to the afternoon movie to accompany his torture.

Open it, a staticky voice says, and there's a camera fixed on his wife, wrists cuffed in front of her and hands hovering over a thick file that can only have one thing in it.

(The world hadn't forgotten anything he'd done in Ultimecia's name, and since she's dead, he's logically the next person to answer for her actions. But he had tried so hard to spare Yuna from the realities of what he'd done-- they should have stayed in Spira. They shouldn't have left. They shouldn't--)

He jolts hard against the chair bolted to the floor, the chain between his wrists and ankles and their hard-mounted point between his feet not long enough to allow him any satisfaction of movement. He stays chained. The camera never pulls away from Yuna.

Don't, Seifer wants to scream, don't open it, don't look at it--

"I...I don't know what you want me to say." other than the fact every portrait contained a small snippet of Seifer somewhere in the vicinity, his sword dripping with life's 'essence'. Among other photographs in the many horrid displays, his eyes were dead. As if his soul left his body and only his vessel, still moving, remained.

The detective's fist slams down in front of her, causing Yuna to flinch back rather agressively. "You were involved, weren't you? You either hid outta sight and encouraged Almasy's reign of terror and conspired with Ultimecia, or you two have something else planned for the future. Speak the truth! Why else would he go missing for months then suddenly turn up with you?"

A loaded question. One she could not hope to explain once and gain believers. The only thing they planned for the future was to make the most of it. Live a happy life, and perhaps with little ones.

"I wasn't... I mean. He didn't appear in Spira until—"

It was swift. She didn't know it happened until she felt the sting of the aftermath. Her cheek now bright red, face completely turned away. He struck her.

"'Spira?' What the hell is that? That some kind of weapon? Spare the bullshit and confess!"

"—Ah! Please... I—I know nothing... Truly." A lie. She did know something. Only that Seifer spoke vaguely of the atrocities he committed once in a blue moon; he knew. And he held his sins close to his heart sparing everyone his burdens. Though Yuna might have been a truthful and pure woman, she would rather die than out her husband for something she barely knew.
