          it’s  not  like  he  can  feign  ignorance  in  knowing  who’s  apartment  he’d  stepped  into  —  not  when  a  multitude  of  his  nights  had  ended  within  these  walls  ,  and  right  beside  her  at  that  .  but  a  good  party’s  not  easy  for  him  to  resist  ,  especially  when  a  few  of  his  own  friends  had  practically  begged  him  to  come  along  with  them  .  after  all  ,  he’s  the  one  with  the  connections  .  funny  how  all  of  them  disappeared  into  the  crowd  as  soon  as  they’d  set  foot  in  the  foyer  .  now  he’s  on  the  hunt  for  a  drink  all  alone  ,  dodging  conversation  the  best  he  can  until  he  can  get  some  substance  in  him  (  at  this  point  ,  he’ll  take  anything  )  .  and  he’d  only  just  knocked  back  a  quick  pair  of  shots  when  her  voice  is  filtering  through  the  air  .  “  not  gonna  kick  me  out  ?  you’re  so  sweet  .  ”  he  lilts  ,  giving  her  a  once - over  before  he’s  grabbing  a  red  solo  cup  for  himself  and  extending  it  towards  her  .  “  pour  me  one  ?  ”

natasha was about to get red in the face, but she simmered upon recognizing jordy. she knew that the girl would never intentionally ruin her shirt. it still was a bummer though. the blonde shakes her head. “my fault for coming in the first place!” nat yells over the song that she doesn’t know the lyrics to. her eyes light up at the mention of a replacement top. “you don’t have to! but…i wouldn’t be opposed.” natasha bit her lip. “well i was gonna leave because…” she gestured to her soiled shirt. “but if you have an extra…”

Their mother used to say the girls were two sides of the same coin. That always felt like more of a marketing angle than a fact. For as long as she could remember, Jordyn had always been the better sister. Prettier, sweeter, more talented, more humble, more polite. Kayden couldn’t count the amount of times someone tried to get close to her in an attempt to get to Jordyn. This year was the first time she booked something alone. And yet, It always felt like Jordyn was ahead. Same roles, same shows, same music, same events, same meet and greets. Even little things like this. Kayden is rushing around like a maniac, frazzled thoughts and scattered necessities on the kitchen counter. While Jordyn is over there. Smiling. Looking perfect. Acting perfect. An air of calm surrounding her. It’s something Kayden can never figure out. “We’re supposed to be there in an hour. If there’s any traffic downtown then it’ll take at least thirty minutes.” Add that to the twenty minutes it’ll take to finish her hair? Well, they’re practically late already. “It’s like you completely forgot what mom taught us.” She says without thinking, a sharp exhale following. They never talk about their mother. Especially not as a mentor. But Kayden still has those thoughts engrained in her. Rule number four. On time is late. “Nevermind. I’m going to finish my hair.”

“that’s what i said!” willa exclaims and then laughs. she likes talking to jordy because it’s always a fun time, the two are really close and thank god they share the same values. At least that’s what willa thinks. “who doesn’t enjoy pancakes? and this diner serves the absolute best,” she grins, taking another sip from her coffee before setting the mug down. “yeah? which state are you in right now? did you record already? are you mixing?” she asks all the questions at once and fast, it’s her style. “i mean, i hope so. i have no idea, though. the label’s said nothing yet so… we just wait.”
