Most travelers to Sevii came for the luxury of a tropical island vacation, but to the locals who had to deal with the archipelagoâs lack of an overarching infrastructure firsthand there wasnât much luxury to be had. Their days were spent in largely the same way; hiking, fishing, soaking in the hot springs, walking along the shoreline. Celio did not mind the daily repetition. The weeks came and went like the tides, ebbing and flowing against the sand, and the programmer hardly ever thought on the monotony. Instead he turned to the outdoors whenever he needed a break, walking barefoot through Treasure Beach with a plastic pail in one hand and an old-model PokĂŠNav in the other, using the Dowsing Machine function to poke through the sand while his Hoppip drifted lazily through the air behind him riding the sea breeze. The wind was sweet, the sounds of the ocean were soothing, the sun was shining; it was an all around lovely day to go poking around for pearls.
Most travelers to Sevii didnât typically know about Treasure Beach. One Island served as little more than an entryway for most into the deeper islands of the archipelago coming in from Kanto, and the beach was on a smaller island separated by a narrow waterway from the main one. Celio was so startled to find a human face he couldnât recognize on the shoreline that he nearly dropped his pail of pearls.
           âAre â are you lost??â
"People donât usually come out this far⌠Did you get separated from a tour group??â
âTour group? Do I look like a tourist to you?â
Well, that wasnât a fair question, but if Xane was a little snippy with his replies it was only because he still had sand stuck in places it shouldnât be. He tugged off his other shoe and shook it, letting a shower of sand escape back onto the beach.
In hindsight, it was his own fault. Maybe heâd been a little cocky, stowing away on a ship and thinking he could get away with it with no trouble. Being thrown overboard was still luckier than some other punishments the crew might have come up with.
âNah, I ainât tourinâ anything today. Iâm, uh...â
He trailed off as he caught sight of the little floating pink thing. If that was part of the local fauna, then where exactly was he?

lifedeniedâ:
âWhaââ?! Of course not, the inkâs all dry, itâs an old tome!â Broken from her trance, Morgan throws her head back to get a look at her distraction. While her poutâs brief, it morphs into a tiny smile. The tactician prodigy is initially surprised, but it morphs into curiosity.âAh! Sir Xane, Iâve been reading one of Fatherâs tactic books! Gotta keep my mind sharp and and all.â
Aside from that, there were some notes and strategies concerning trap making too! Sheâs thankful her Father for including that. Placing a nearby leaf from the tree to mark her page, she folds it closed onto her lap.
âWho knows when weâll have to use it, ya know?â The last person who fell victim to her traps wasâŚprobably Owain, that poor guy, âbut ohâ wait, did we start settinâ up camp? Want some help?âÂ
Xane gave a dry laugh. âIâm just messinâ with you. But watch out -- I wouldnât put it past some prankster to pull somethinâ on you while youâre not lookinâ.â He winked at her innocently, then leaned in a little to stage whisper to her. âIâm too innocent tâ do such a thing myself, of course, but some of these other miscreants might.â
He could swear he just saw her reading something different the other day, but he was never sure how fast she was actually running through those old texts. Heâd even taken a peek at one of those books once. The one heâd seen was so chock full of long words that he barely got a hint of what it meant before the tactician was shooing him away.
âWell, I was settinâ things up, but I think I got a handle on this one. Unless this pole is supposed to go somewhere...?â He gave the wooden pole in his hand a spin, as if to demonstrate that it was clearly not part of the constructed tent. âMaybe Iâm gettinâ poor at this in my old age, but I sure hope itâs an extra.â

Xane doesn't deserve to be beaten up :(
âSee? This person gets it. Iâm completely faultless--â
aesirwindâ:
Truth be told, Forseti couldnât say he was looking forward to yet another meeting. It was rare, if ever, that he could say he looked forward to meetings; they seemed to alternate between dull enough to sleep and everyone has very different opinions that they are very stubbornly defending and they are all wrong. So, when he lands outside the temple and spies some bright red eyes - well. Itâs a welcome distraction to say the least.
âHey!â he called back, and if thereâs an extra sparkle in his eye, spring in his step, or flap of his hands as he also races to greet the young dragon - well. Thatâs between him and himself. Upon reaching him, Forseti bounces on the ball of his heels, as though to drain himself of excess energy. âYes! Of course Iâm back! Howâre you?â
His grin falters at the mention of the meeting. âHuh. There sure was, huhâŚâ Forseti trails off, blinking down at the younger dragon. Maybe heâs projecting, just a little, but it doesnât seem like the kidâs any more enthusiastic about the meeting than he is.
âOh, theyâre always boring - believe me, I know,â he says, closing his eyes as he waves his hand and huffs. A moment later, his hand freezes midair, and one eye cracks open. âSomething fun, you say? Well. Oh, what should I do, a boring olâ stuffy meeting, too boring for kids like you, or something fun, that the others will surely get on my case for laterâŚâ
He puts a hand to his chin and taps one foot, putting on a show of this being some great debate, when in his heart, he already knows the answer. ââŚOh, who am I kidding. What sorta fun are we talking here, kid?â
It wasnât as if anyone there really expected him to be responsible, after all. And even if they did, well. Would anyone be able to blame him for trying to keep the kid occupied?
Xane was absolutely thrilled to hear it -- which was clearly evident in the smile creeping across his face.
Oh, he knew Gotoh would say it was bad. But he couldnât bring himself to care if Forseti didnât either.
âItâs a tree!â He realized that was a very poor description, and frowned thoughtfully. â...Itâs a big tree? Itâs all gnarled and stuff. I wanted to try gettinâ to the top...â It was a tough sort of task for a tiny human-shaped being. But Forseti was a larger human-shaped being, and sometimes a whole dragon.
But...
âIf you gotta go to the meeting, I can wait. Iâll be okay.â Xane wasnât really smiling about it, but he was doing his best not to look put out. ââCause... what if Gotoh says you canât come back ânâ do stuff? Then Iâd be all bored again.â
He fiddled with the edge of his shirt as he talked. âYouâre cool, yâknow. Other people donât listen to me so often.â Which, frankly, seemed unfair for a dragon of his many hundreds of years old. âHow come you donât wanna be doinâ that boring stuff everyone else does?â
sireneiaâ:
Dew had barely finished his job at looting, trying to discreetly walk away when he feels a tug at his clothes. He turns around, expecting the poor soldier he had swindled only to find what looked to be a child praising him. The compliment itself was fine and dandy, but the thief couldnât manage to grin at it when he could see a few paces behind them was the victim of his plundering.
â H-Hey! â he shouts despite himself. After all, thereâs no way that guy didnât have EARS and would probably notice this sooner than he had hoped. Dew forces his hand against Xaneâs mouth in a shoddy way to silence him but he knows the damage is already done by the way that soldier is checking his belongings already. Dew mutters under his breath to Xane before freeing his hand, â Book it and donât rat me out more if ya want to talk! â With that, the thief runs off like the wind in the direction of the nearest forest, not sparing one last glance to the enraged older male turning to look at the two boys talking of stealing.
How rude! Xane had half a mind to bite the hand that was clamped so roughly against his mouth. It was sure lucky that this thief guy had backed off so quick--
...Oh. Xane turned around to see the guard whoâd definitely heard that exchange.
At least he was nothing if not accustomed to a quick getaway. He was off and running after his new friend the moment he realized what was going on.
âH-hey! Slow down a little! Câmon, I was just askinâ,â he complained in between breaths. Who knew if that guy was even following anyways? And Xane was stuck trying to keep up with his little legs, and -- even after heâd given the guy a compliment and everything! At this rate heâd be lucky if he didnât get left behind to that guard.
rakkirrrowchâ:
â woah , woah ! hey !! â the wrap slightly unravels and ramses pulls back , fast to fix it - â if itâs not real then why are ya touchinâ it ?! â
what a weirdo , trying to undress people without permission ! heck ,  itâd be nice if his body really was wrapped for nothing more than mystery ;  rather eerie curiosity than what gruesome horrors might be exposed , and what even worse misunderstandings might spawn from the sight . Â
drawing distance between them ,  a high whine creeps into the boyâs voice as he grips protective of the once pulled-at wrap .  â iâm not faking anything ⌠!  even if they get dirty i can change them â i do change them !  why do i have to go outside anyways ? if you mean out by myself to a village or something , no way !  isnât walking around the garden enough ?! â
âIâm provinâ itâs fake, silly! If there ainât anythinâ underneath, whatâs the point?â
The strange human had been too quick to pull away, so Xane hadnât seen a thing. How boring. He considered trying again...
âI guess you could stay in the garden, but what kinda use are you gonna be to that princey guy?â Xane cocked his head to the side and propped his hands on his hips, still staring at the boy curiously. âI can stay here, âcause Iâm a dragon. But you ainât gonna be useful if you stay inside all day!â
He sighed. âWell, your loss if you get kicked out for beinâ lazy. But yâknow, maybe I could help you with that...â
poregidaâ:
â youâre making me repeat myself, â Elrean grumbles. he taps his left foot, loudly, impatiently. he hates repeating himself, just as much as he hates Xaneâs other tried and annoying antics. in any case, his disdain should be immediately clear, no matter how stupid Xane may or may not be.
â you donât get rewarded for nothing. iâll help you find whichever atlas youâre looking for only after you clean up your little mess.Â
â is that clear?? on-ly. af-ter. âÂ
âAl-right, grumpy pants. Guess thatâs good enough.â Xane unceremoniously plopped down onto the floor, and gave Elrean a dramatic eyeroll that he was sure the mage could see. He expected that was the closest thing to a promise that he was going to get.
After a moment of contemplation, he started pushing the books into some semblance of a pile -- the same way someone might sweep up a deck of cards that had fallen on the floor. It was sort of fun, and it would definitely annoy Elrean. âSo... whereâs the maps? I looked for âmâ kinda books, but they sure ainât there.â

Elphin likes the courtyard, and he has no reason to disagree with Xaneâs clear choice of just waiting for Perceval to find him, so he follows quietly behind the dragon. he can see Xane is red, but past that itâs unclearâŚÂ he wonders if he could recognize him even on a better day, should he see him in the coming weeks at all.
at least he seems companionable.
â i admit i have a passing curiosity of dragons, though iâm certain your life would be completely different from the ones in my world, â he says.
â i know Lady Fae to be a divine dragon, and that there are fire dragons, while the Lady Idunn is a mage dragon, informally named, in her past, as the demon dragonâŚÂ which are you?? â
âEww,â Xane complained, making a face that Elphin likely couldnât see anyways. âA âdemon dragonâ? Donât lump me in with those feral guys. If I was anythinâ like that, some human wouldâa come cut me down years ago.â It only figured that humans from other lands would have pretty much the same story to tell.
â...Nah, Iâm a divine dragon. You got nothinâ to worry about from me.â He was already onto the next topic, uninterested in holding a grudge over something so minor. It wasnât Elphinâs fault that humans as a collective didnât know this stuff. âIâm sure hopinâ that the dragons âround you have a different story...â
Something occurred to him then. âSay, you know another divine dragon? Did she end up here too?â Xaneâs steps paused as he looked to Elphin expectantly. âJust âcause, uh... no reason.â
azelfireâ:
   â
â Of course I wonât!! â Azelle replies. He eagerly takes the otherâs hand and shakes it, to prove it.
â Itâs not like things matter here like they did in Jugdral. Heâll just be grumpy for no reasonâŚÂ â Azelle pauses. If they keep going, and Arvis hears word of something heâd done that heâd never doâŚÂ Theyâd both be neck-deep in flame. Or this guy would â Arvis would just hold Azelle by his ankles until his face turned blue, probably. âŚIs it still worth it??
         Yeah, totally.
He takes his hand back and gestures to himself. â Azelle Velthomer, younger brother to Duke Arvis. Thereâs 7 years between us. If my brother is without Valflame, itâs because itâs getting mended at the smithy â he never goes anywhere without it.Â
â Got it?? â He winks.
                                                      ă đĽ ă
Xane gave Azelleâs hand a good shake before releasing it, and a wink to mirror his own. âThanks, kid! I owe ya one. Arvis ainât gonna catch me today, heh.â
That man was so much fun to impersonate -- Xane wouldâve lost a great source of entertainment if Azelle had been a little more stingy about it. That, and he might have come across some bodily harm if Arvis heard about it... but Arvis would have to catch him first.
âDonât think I woulda pegged you as that guyâs brother if you hadnât said somethinâ. âCourse, I never was good at tellinâ humans apart,â Xane added, with a shrug that would likely come across as unapologetic. âBut hey, youâre already doinâ better than him -- he still donât think Iâm a dragon! What sorta nerve, huh?â
Well, maybe if Arvis gave him a little more respect Xane wouldnât have gotten so comfortable at toying with him. It was the dukeâs own fault!
