Understandable! I definitely think Murdoc's got, er, some animal response to a hand on his head, and naturally this gels well with the very mild and very suggestive pain of hair-pulling. I've got too strong of an allergy to tenderness with these two, haha, but I do dip my toes a tiny bit into the Tender Tides when it comes to Stu settling a hand in Murdoc's hair-- not exactly in an overly affectionate way, like much of their physically-expressed relationship it is simple and silent, but it conveys a familiarity, it's a sort of admission of intimacy because it would not be possible were they not physically close, regardless of the full context of that time together. At the very least it expresses an acknowledgement of Murdoc's closeness, and one could argue even a wanting for his closeness. I agree that if Murdoc's got an inciting comment, be it crass or cruel, it dies on his tongue when he feels fingers on his scalp (and that'd be the case with anyone in a private context, but even moreso when it's Stu because of their tumultuous non-relationship and the implications mentioned above.)
