EarthFound - An EarthBound Creepypasta
I never really liked video games. I would occasionally play the Sims Busting Out, Rollercoaster Tycoon, or any other simulation game. However, one day one of my friends attempted to get me to play Final Fantasy 3 (I think 6 in Japan) on the Super Nintendo. Needless to say I wasn't a big fan. I left about half an hour in to our gaming session due to boredom. However, I began to feel guilty for leaving so early. I called him to apologize when someone answered, but it wasn't him. I asked if he was there, it was his mom. She said he disappeared last night and she was going to call me and see if I knew his whereabouts. I panicked and was silent.
“N-n-n...” I couldn't think or speak, so I did what every inch of my brain told me not to do; I
hung up.
Two years passed without talking to his family until my phone rang. It was his brother calling to tell me to come get my friend's Super Nintendo. When I arrived at their house, I saw a box on the door that said “FOR YOU”.
I picked it up and turned around to see a “for sale” sign in their lawn. Curious, I went to their neighbor's house and asked them where the family was.
“They died, boy. I'm sorry to say because they were...they were always happy. Even with their son gone.” I was terrified. Not about the happy family gone, but about the family gone. I ran away without looking back.
When I got back to my house and looked in the box; in it was the Super Nintendo with one game in it; EarthFound. I mistook it for EarthBound, the cult classic game, and began playing as soon as I plugged it in. Why I wanted to play so badly I will never know.
The game started, and when it should have gone to “EARTHBOUND: THE WAR AGAINST GIYGAS”, it went to an image of Ness laying on the floor in a ball crying. Then the camera zoomed out to show Paula without skin, Jeff with his eyes laying on the ground disconnected from his head, and Poo with his throat slit.
I turned the game off and lit a fire in my fireplace. I had to burn these demonic games...things...whatever they were. I smiled as I watched it burn. But then I noticed that the four characters didn't look like Ness, Paula, Jeff, and Poo; they were my friend, his mom, his dad, and his
I can't believe this all happened, but still...
