the apartment's a mess. small, too small, not for the four of them right now, and his room is no better : clothes strewn about — at least he has an excuse right now, with heather helping him pack — empty bottles of banquet in the process of being collected.

but right now, the world feels impossibly huge. his world feels impossibly small, like it can fit on the head of a pin. @defenseonly's face is warm beneath his cold, calloused hands. ( BECAUSE I LOVE YOU, echoes in his head, deafening, twisting his heart, leaving an empty pit in his stomach. ) his face hurts from grinning, so wide, so stupidly wide, ear - to - ear. when he was a kid, his mother told him not to pull faces : it might get stuck like that ... looking at daniel right now, he isn't sure he minds the threat.

' i love you, ' he mumbles, voice soft and buried behind the way he presses his lips to daniel's. it's so unlike any kiss they've shared before : missing the gentleness, saccharine - sweet tenderness that's characterized every interaction they've had in the past week. nearly. every one that mattered. this is bruising, more teeth than anything else, crushing. john kisses like a man drowning, like daniel is his first breath of air ... and in a way, he is, isn't he? and maybe it's a little crass, to try and devour daniel in this way, when they have two sets of eyes boring holes into them, but he doesn't care.
