Up to 100 thousand people have been killed and "disappeared" directly due to persecution caused by US led coups in South America during Operation Condor. Half a million were arrested and tortured by military officers trained by US officials in the School of The Americas (WHICH STILL EXISTS, BY THE WAY). If you count "non-politically motivated" deaths, 5 million people starved to death in a single decade during the US-backed military dictatorship in Northeast Brazil alone.

The US promotes and finances coups and collaborationist governments in Latin America to this day, enforcing ultraliberalism and austerity politics that lead to poverty and hunger across the continent. During the Bolsonaro administration (which happened after both a US backed coup in Brazil in 2016 AND election interference by the CIA and FBI in 2018) Brazilians were literally fighting in front of butcher shops for the chance to get bones which we could eat. Hunger and poverty in Argentina is soaring to levels not seen in, fuck, forever. The average argentinian is paid an hourly wage of less than 0.3 dollars (30 CENTS).

There are 33 countries in Latin America and The Caribbean. Out of those 33, exactly *5* countries are white majority countries: Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba and Uruguay. Every other country in Latin America is either majority black, majority native, majority indian or majority mixed. You're pretending all Latinos are white to pretend we aren't oppressed by the US, but even if we were (which, again, we overwhelmingly aren't) we are still oppressed by the US by virtue of being neocolonies whose role in global capitalism is to provide raw resources at the expense of our environment, people, and economic and political independence.
