I can’t remember what article it was because I read it at 2am but one spoiler article speculated that Serena was a private investigator and honestly that kinda makes sense.

It would make sense why Kev recognised her, he could have seen her in prison visiting another inmate for a case. All the questions about John which now seem that they’re leading towards his death with Moira telling Robert to keep quiet. Her ‘research’ on her laptop. Chas and Aaron finding something on her phone. Serena’s introductory spoilers mentioned her allegiance/loyalty struggles. It all fits together with her being a private investigator.

I’m unsure about who she’d be working for. Perhaps someone has hired her to investigate John’s death. Perhaps she’s been hired to find intel for another journalist and is using her last name to her advantage.

The one who was born on the show, who felt like an outsider in his own family, who's dad never did right right by him. The one who had to make it on his own from the age of 19 and we still don't know how. The one who spent 6 years in prison scared and abused and who came out riddled with ptsd, anxiety and depression. While the villagers, including his own family, told him to leave again. The one who has a young son who's mother you killed off.
